Forget Big Oil the New World Power is Big Carbon

Al Gore, the man who invented carbon emissions. It wasn't so long ago Mr Gore and his Gorelets were telling us if we wanted to fly anywhere then we would have to buy carbon offsets, preferably from a Government Approved scheme. It was also suggested that we walk more often, use public transport instead of driving and turning down your thermostat at home. This obviously only applies to city folks because in rural areas public transport leaves a great deal to be desired and sensible people heat their homes to a temperature which ensure the occupiers are comfortable.

Now all this is unravelling. The air's out of the bag and the bag's deflating, yet Gore and his Gorelets are backing stiffer pan-globe governmental legislation on carbon emissions.

No wonder this man's smiling. He is Dr Rajendra Pachauri, the part-time head of the IPCC.
Richard North continues his excellent research into Climategate and shows us what a tight-knit set-up the selling of air has become.

James Delingpole is one of the few journalists who has spoken out against climate change, particularly since the leak of the UEA emails and documents. His Telegraph article today also addresses the Big Carbon Scam Corus have used against the NE of England. It is a worthwhile read.

If anyone had said to me 20 years ago that the ultimate non-product of carbon trading would be the biggest scam of the 21st century I would have thought them mad. Yet it has happened. Just in European terms, the European Climate Exchange (ECX) and Bluenext accounted for 92% of exchange-traded EU carbon permits and so far in 2009, the value of the carbon permits traded through both exchanges is €86,304,050,227 or €364,547,223 a day.

The irony of it all is, as James Hansen admits, this money making 'business' will have no overall effect on emission levels, but it's not intended to. As Richard North states "This is a money-making scam on a colossal scale, a confidence trick perpetrated in plain sight, giving endless opportunities to rip off the public."

Excellent, it is all unravelling as we view.

The problem is that the Good Ship Gordon Brown sails on oblivious to the complete nonsense this has all become.

Brown really is a self deluded dangerous idiot.

The head of the Asian Development Bank (ADP), Haruhiko Kuroda, warned governments that a failure to reach a climate deal in Copenhagen could lead to a collapse of the carbon market,

Now we know why Big Al has resurfaced in Copenhagen; defending his and his puppet meisters' interests.

Bugger me, Gordon has gone to Copenhagen two days earlier than expected and Tony Blair has surfaced there too.

The CO2 Global Warming cage has been well and truly rattled.

Money is at stake, all hands to the pump!

subrosa said...

Dangerous yes Bug, he has to protect the Gorelets or he won't have a career after he's finished destroying Britain.

subrosa said...

I should have included Haruhiko in the post Bug but I think Richard North covered it and also James Delingpole.

subrosa said...

Oh I didn't know Blair is there too. Well well, who'd have guessed.

Well Bugger me!

If our good friend Dr Rajendra Pachauri, part time head of the UN's IPCC is not also a good friend of Tata Industries who bought out British Steel who have announced the imminent closure of their Redcar factory and 1,600 redundancies.

FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH of today

"Dr. Pachauri has been Head of Tata Energy Research Institute, New Delhi (now known as The Energy and Resources Institute) since April 2001.

As Booker reported, what has been great for Tata’s bottom line has not been so good for useful for the 1700 workers who recently lost their jobs in Redcar, North Yorkshire, when the owner of the Corus steelworks – Tata – decided to close its plant.

The real gain to Corus from stopping production at Redcar, however, is the saving it will make on its carbon allowances, allocated by the EU under its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). By ceasing to emit a potential six million tonnes of CO2 a year, Corus will benefit from carbon allowances which could soon, according to European Commission projections, be worth up to £600 million over the three years before current allocations expire."

FFSake

Corus close a plant in N E England, cast 1,600 workers on the industrial scrapheap and net probably £600 Million in CO2 trades! No doubt after 5 or so years they'll sell the land, on which the plant stood and people made their living, for a mixed housing and a shopping arcade development.

I hope the good people of the NE of England wake up sharpish and abandon Labour because Labour has abandoned them.

This fraud of all time is collapsing as we watch and still the BBC says nothing.

This is TREASON, nothing less!

Climategate, that is small fry!

Carbongate is the big hidden one, where all the money is.

Beautiful!

subrosa said...

Aye Bug, James Delingpole has done his homework hasn't he?

It's a disgrace what's happened with Corus and like you, I hope people see how labour have effected the disgusting scam.

subrosa said...

Bug, I've put a reference to the Corus issue against the Telegraph link.

This is a looting of Biblical proportions.

I have to dampen Bugger's spirits somewhat I'm afraid.

After the Carbon Emissions Trading and so on was announced back in the heady days of 2002, it was widely praised in the mainstream media, on both side of the spectrum for not interfering with people's lives. At the same time, it was being opposed as an empty token measure by environmental activists. Nothing new here - apart from environmentalists and sceptics bizarrely being on the same page.

By and large, the carbon trading schemes have nothing to do with climate-gate and are not a scandal in themselves. It's just politics - dressing up an empty measure to disguise the fact that Government very rarely actually wants to do anything to prevent something which we cannot afford to be wrong about. It's a wonderful illustration of how politicians love to think about the now and only now and give little thought to the effects of their actions. The effects being, of course, that no matter what you believe about the emails, the planet cannot indefinitely sustain a growing population of 7 billion people, increasing amounts of chemicals being pumped into the sky and the lifestyles that we in the west have become accustomed to. Maybe this is a natural warming, but at some point what we do is going to have an effect - better tackle it sooner then later...

Hmmm....that turned into a bit of a treatise. Sorry Subrosa.

Apart from the intended bit, the financial racket, the unintended consequences will be many and various and almost all damaging. One possible is to wreck the power supply provision of a major economy. But which one?

Anonymous said...

Hammer, I don't doubt that pumping certain chemicals into the environment is not a very smart thing to do, particularly at the local level.

Where I wear my cynicist's hat is at the level of the "science" which is driving this financial scam.

The science is junk science, completely unacceptable to anyone versed in scientific method and philosophy.

The data, on which the Global Warming fact is largely fabricated, of that I think there is now no doubt.

Take a half hour out and watch the video of Lord Monkton dissecting the core elements of the Global Warming argument and as he does he publicly calls out a list of scientific "liars" who have fraudulently, his words, fabricated data to propagate the myth of Global Warming.

I have yet to hear any rumblings of slander proceedings.

In all scams and long frauds it is necessary to follow the money to find the structure and raison d'etre of the fraud.

I think that the carbon trading and the huge VAT carousel fraud attendant to these carbon bourses is what it is all about. There may be a political layer concerning political power and control but in the end it all boils down to money.

Politicians, almost by genetic predisposition, are always available if the price is right and if it raises their public power and influence they win twice over.

Personally I would cull 10% of them everywhere, every year, pour encourager les autres.

I feel a post coming on about what is scientific method and analysis and what is social studies.

For me "social science" is an oxymoron.

I see Gordon aka Jonah is about to touch down in Copenhagen two days early.

Well that's the Climate Conference Fwurked then.

subrosa said...

He'll conjure up some drivel saying they're all in agreement, wait and see.

Crinkly & Ragged Arsed Philosophers said...

Look don't get all hot and bothered about this.

The carbon scam is only a fraction of the financial market scam, and haven't they straightened the kinks out of that and got it up and running again?

And Global Warming? I regard it more as global pollution and I agree with Hammer that the cause is very much down to an exploding human population combined with industrial expansion. Your guess is as good as mine as far as what the effects will be but I cannot see any sense in not tidying up the crap we make.

However the real danger we're exposed to, is the paucity of abilities in those who govern us to make real and constructive decisions.

My worry is the generation of our grandchildren are going to witness not only as we have, the lunatics running the asylum, but the same lunatics auctioning the bloody place off.

subrosa said...

Crinkly I'm having difficulty getting warm far less hot. That aside, I understand what you mean, but don't you think the carbon business is a rip off? Billions shifting between a few who laugh all the way to the bank in their private jets.

The place is being auctioned off as we write. Let's wait and see the results of the lisbon treaty a year from now.

Crinkly & Ragged Arsed Philosophers said...

Rosa, consider this.

I'm a CEO of a global conglomerate when the carbon credit scheme is first muted.

The first thing I do is crank up the pollution from every factory till, for the sake of argument, our carbon liability is audited at £1bn.

Once that audits done I have the pollutant levels tweaked back to the norm, which for the sake of simplicity works out at half.

I now have a liability of £500m but I also have £500m in credits to offset it.

And, in the meantime I have a legitimate cost increase of £1bn to be passed on to the gullible consumers.

Free market or fools gold?

subrosa said...

I get it Crinkly. Slightly similar to that which has happened in the NE with Corus although it involves India too.

Time us gullible customers said no we're not paying, but of course the believers would say we just want to avoid honest taxes.

Chris Booker was on the carbon trading scam/Redcar in The Telegraph Sat 12th Dec.

Chis Booker Carbon Trading Redcar

The other day I asked a couple of warmist University lecturers " Where are all the carbon offset forests then ? I've never seen any; what does Al Gore do with all they money he rakes in ?"
They were bit flummoxed before deciding that The Media would not show them because watching forests grow is "not very exiting" and then pulled their 'inappropriate ' face on before changing the subject.

subrosa said...

Watching forests grow isn't exciting? Well it might not be something that pushes my blood pressure up but it's good to see wee forests thriving. There are a few just off the A9.

Crinkly & Ragged Arsed Philosophers said...

Rosa, it would be less effort to list what isn't a scam than try to list everything that is - though you may experience some difficulty in finding the scam free.

Fact: the Masters of the World are the oligarchs of finance and global corporations.

PM's and presidents merely head the human resource function with responsibility for control and maximum utilisation (meaning minimum cost) of human livestock.

Free market capitalism and the credit (mortgage)trap has reintroduced slavery with a twist. The twist is slavery old style had the owner responsible for the well being of his slaves for life. Slavery 21st century style (wage slave), the owner has no such responsibility.

It may stick in the craw and sour the palate, but that doesn't make it any less of a fact.

subrosa said...

Aye indeed Crinkly, there's little which isn't a scam these days and it seems the harder you work the less you have (unless you're in the top 10% of earners).

Slavery right enough. So sad when my parents generation and mine wanted a fairer and healthier country.
