Lucky Escape for John Redwood

John Redwood is the MP for Wokingham and I read his blog regularly. I'm sure Mr Redwood has been aware of the problem since the closure of public toilets in Wokingham but, being an MP, perhaps that issue is rather too basic for his interest.

However, step in Councillor UllaKarin (eh?) Clark to unveil Wokingham's new toilet facility. It cost the council a mere £50,000 to install a toilet in the local library.

Marvellous really what councils do, especially when this particular library is closed on Wednesdays, according to disabled Deborah Chandler and it's also closed on Sundays.

Ms Clark will no doubt have a photo of the delightful occasional of her 'unveiling' on her mantelpiece. John Redwood had a lucky escape.

What a lovely toilet...I wonder if Ms Clark has sat on it yet...and cleared out a few dead brain cells!

It's too far from the door. There aren't any books. That toilet paper looks like Izal. Where's the ashtray (or sink at a pinch)?

In other news, it was too hot today, too cold yesterday and it'll probably rain tomorrow.

Yes, I have to write a report and it's not one of the more interesting ones.

Fifty grand though? Less than five years ago I had an extension to the back of the house so I can get from kitchen to garage without going out in the rain. No car, I just need access to my workshop/junk pile. A new room above the garage and another bathroom beside that so I don't have to lose my temper with visitors. The whole lot cost around £30K (without decorating) and it hasn't fallen down. All my pipework is nicely out of sight too.

Fifty grand for one toilet with a tacky plastic seat and they haven't even put a lid on it. They were done.

I don't like the tiles either. And that dress needs ironing.

Ah, that's better. Back to work...

Good one Indyan!

I do hope they didn't use a chunk of book space to create it Joe. They took a large chunk of book space at my library a few years ago to put in a bank of computers.

Auch JJ, the woman looks really happy in her work.

Aye it was the cost that caught my eye LI. They wis robbed.

Oh Sandy. It's a disabled toilet remember. Once you involve the disability groups the cost isn't likely to be average.

Well, it beats the Asian/middle east/ whatever hole in the floor toilet that was the subject of a report last week, mind you ,the price may be similar.

Erm Apogee, are you suggesting my posts are becoming bog standard? ;)

Ah the lass looks flushed with success as she plugs the toilet. I hope the bog roll of honour mentions her part in the construction. Is it true that the Minister of Khazie is opening the place by sprinkling it with toilet water? Lastly, I see the first (last) person to us it was female..... the seat is down! You'll have to forgive this load of flannel and me making a soap of myself it's how I'm feeling today.
Anyway, Thunderbox is go!!

Nurse, the screens, he's of again!
