A Merry Christmas from Me to You

Let's not forget those who will not be with family or friends for Christmas Day. Also spare a thought for our troops in Afghanistan where we have had another fatality today. They give us so much yet ask so little in return.

"They give us so much"
Er, like what exactly?

@ingfangthief
You are clearly a class one pillock.
They give us their lives you oaf.

No offence Catosays..!
But I would rather they kept their lives.
What use are their broken young bodies to us..?
Or to their families, and their communities?

Evening to you infangthief. What an example of the comprehensive education system you are. My sympathies.

Believe me infangthief, I'd much rather have veterans rather than heroes, especially when there are people so ill-informed as yourself around. Thankfully our troops fight for the majority not the few.

Subrosa, wishing you and each and everyone, no mater where you are, no mater what you are doing, A Very Merry Christmas.

When it comes to maters religious, I am what might be described as a somewhat cynical non-payed-up member, but it does us no harm to remember the true meaning of Christmas...

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

infangthief, you don't deserve a response but I'm polite so I'll give you one. Don't come back here if you don't mind.

CD a Merry Christmas to you and yours. xx

John I consider myself a non-member also, not through choice really but it's hard work to 'belong' to any church here. They seem to have their members and that's that.

If that's the way they want it then fine, but they shouldn't expect me to give anything. I give a little to the Sallies at this time of year because my father always did and asked me to continue his habit.

Merry Christmas.

Likewise Nominal C of E but look back with fondness to childhood Christmases centred on the church (and a proper one at that, loads of genuflecting and bits of Latin here and there).

Dunno what the AWG crowd have done but it must be working since it looks like we in EU Region 4 will be having our first White Christmas in decades!

Thanks and best wishes to the boys and girls in Afghanistan

Merry Christmas to you and yours Subrosa, Happy Blogging for 2010.

Yuletide greetings, SR. Bit of a pagan myself: sunsets appeal to me more than sermons. But this time of the year is still special and, as you suggest, it would do no harm to remember people who are far away from their families and in danger, no matter whether a person thinks they are right or wrong in what they do.

Merry Christmas to you too VotR. Have a peaceful time. Quite a bit of snow overnight here.

Banned, a Merry Christmas to you and yours. Do hope your roads are ok there. Snowploughs out here this morning.

Edgar, I read yesterday of a church having their midnight service in a pub tonight. Now that would get attendance here.

They stopped the late night service here a few years ago. It was particularly well attended so I don't understand why, but it was a service I attended, because like you, it took me back to childhood days.

Subrosa, I have no wish to offend so I'll bow out.
I like reading your blog and I wish you all the best.
I'll stick with Craig Murray and Aangirfan!

To all you suckers over there in Poor and getting Poorerland, have a peaceful Xmas and may your Running Dog Imperialist Faux New Year be filled with chewable bamboo.

On the other hand, Vronsky can have the woody bits.

Infangthief, sorry but I won't have the military insulted like that. Criticised yes, but not insulted.

Have a Merry Christmas.

Morning Mrs P. Same to you!

Many thanks FC and I wish you and yours every good health for New Year and a Merry Christmas.

Hopefully I'll have dug myself out by Friday. :) Auch it's not that bad but I'll have to move snow before I can get the garage open.

Good brave men and women fighting in a foreign land, betrayed by their government in equipment to save some money whilst the government spends so much lining their pockets at our expense.

They deserve so much more than thanks and a merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you Subrosa and all your readers, yes, even infangthief. I am not a 'paid up' member of the christian variety but I like to think I behave 'christian like' as I go about my daily life. As an ex soldier I know what it is like to be where I don't want to be at Christmas time.

Oh, and have a very Happy New Year everybody.

Oh I nearly forgot.

A special message for Ayrshire Scot, whoever you are.

I just lurved your description of Jeff Breslin of Tactical SNP Voting monumental fame;

a sycophantic aromatherispist!

Made my day it did and still does days later.

I think he really should join the Green party, he so lurves them.

Tactical Green Voting!

Big Yin, I think it was just a bad day for infangthief. Hopefully he understands why I was upset by his remark and I wish him no ill will whatsoever.

We have Christian values that's what count I think Big Yin. 'do unto others etc' is perhaps my motto.

Let's hope 2010 gives us some better political leadership.

Oi Subrosa

How come I don't get a cuddle and a stick of bamboo from you?

Have you been on the sweet and sour electric soup already.

Have yours gets up that road for Xas with Mumsy!

subrosa said...

Morning Bug, one of these days I'm afraid. Have had to clear a pathway to the front door but the roads seem ok now.

Didn't you get the bamboo? See I knew the post office would let me down.
