One of the first out of the PLP meeting with their great leader was Mr Ainsworth. As well as taking on the position of Defence Minister he appears to have also accepted the post of cheerleader for the Prime Minister, a post more suited to his very limited abilities.Forgive me if I had a little smile at Fraser Nelson's account in Coffee Shop:
'Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth was also sent out of the meeting at 6.50pm with The Line To Take from No10 - you could almost see him trying to remember his script: "Those people have had their say and they have failed to gain the support of their parliamentary colleagues and they should respect that". Staggering.'
Also Tom Harris spoke up and told Gordon Brown he out to stand down. Nothing to do with the fact that, in his constituency, the SNP came first of course. There could be other reasons.
My bet is still good as Gordon Brown will hang on until the bitter end regardless of the country's wishes.

He does have a safe seat Howard and I would say he'll keep it but others, on the back of the Euros, may say his coat's on a shoogly peg.

I'm with you on the how long he'll stay question. I just can't see anyone wanting the job before the ballot box massacre. They'll want it after. And the risk of a leadership contest. And the hope of things improving in the coming year. He'll limp on to the bitter end...

I agree with you Brown will hang on to the bitter end but mind we have 2 by-elections comming up, i think the one in England Labour will get hammerd. Glasgow Northeast, hmm im not sure if the snp will take it.
If he loses both then he is gone for sure...

Spook, if you read the telegraph and the speech he made tonight - I think he's made that same speech about 3 times now.
He'll hang on until dragged out and none of his cabinet will say a word against him because they want to keep their jobs and sod the further destruction of the country.

Trouble is he could be dangerous with his ignorance Daisy but I'm hoping the military will manage to make him their wee puppet. They have the necessary skills I know. :)
I can't get over just how thick he comes across. Like one of your elderly relatives that's had a bit too much to drink and isn't making any sense despite going on talking.
The adjective I thought would describe him best was chancer tris. That's when I was listening to his drivel on TV last night.
