Lord Foulkes and his spat with a BBC interviewer. Of course he doesn't understand why MPs aren't worth more than they're presently paid. Silly man, he should stay off television, but it seems he's all labour can put up front.

H'm, tough call which individual was the most smug?
It was a bit like a failed asylum seeker arguing with a school girl granny.
I find them equally obnoxious. The interviewer lost her temper, which suggests she has a right to voice her opinion on the matter. I don't think so. Call me old fashioned, but when I was trained as a broadcaster, this kind of interview would have had me kicked off the course. Lord Foulkes accordingly came out of it a lot better than he deserves.
I must say Subrosa, you've become a dab hand at the technosavvy stuff.
Where would we be without the Screaming Lord?
Aye WW, she didn't come out well. She should never have divulged her salary to him and that's when he won.
True OR. If she's on that salary she ought to have had far more skill at handling the old fool. All she had to do was get him back on the subject.
That man is the most rude, bumptious, bitter, ignorant idiot I've ever heard. He was equally as nasty on Sky News with the adorable Charlotte Hawkins. Beast.
Yep, her salary is an interesting topic in its own right, but if she'd been worth that same salary she'd have kept Foulkes on the topic. She walked right into a fairly obvious trap and the result is, as Foulkes no doubt intended, that we're all discussing BBC salaries instead of MPs expenses.
SR,
I laughed over my lunch watching this, he is a cantankerous druken old fool trying to talk posh Jockanese at the EBC.
£92k for her going rate - bollox - waste of money - there are hundreds if not thousands lining up wanting to have a crack at £35k per annum for a tv job.
Hence why I refuse to pay the fee.
One good point was his diatribe against Paxman - another overpaid opinionated oaf! Let me make my own decisions on what I think, don't bloody tell me what you think I should be thinking!
CD
I'm sure she was subconsciously thinking that her confession would allow her to demand he tell what his combined Lords/Scottish Parliament income (+ expenses) are. But, fellow commenters correct, her temper robbed her of the clean kill.
Why thanks you Lallands, I admit on the very odd occasion I do surpass even my own expectations.
You should hear him on BBC Scotland TP, your blood would boil.
FL, like CD I was astonished at her salary. For goodness sake all that just to present news?
I wish I had the courage not to pay the fee CD. Years ago I tried it and had them at the door. It's a nonsense a salary like that for that job when a brigadier doesn't earn that.
I'm sure she was on the carpet over it Mek and if she wasn't then she should have been.
God, I must go and lie down. I agreed with Foulkes.
Careful now Vronsky, you can't start developing bad habits :)

Exactly and thats why i like him so much......My Hero!
with an army like him we could annoy the world.
Typical Labour, they try to smear others. The bbc woman was far to soft with this list MSP, even though George was talking rubbish he wiped the floor with her.
Bring on Paxtman and hopefuly he will sort George out, what a bully this terrible little man is.
Day by day Labour are stooping to a new low, this man has gone even lower..
Auch Niko, I know Foulkes is a nationalist at heart. Just you wait, when we get independence he'll be first in the queue to be the instigator of it.
Spook Paxman won't wipe the floor with Lardy, Paxman's a unionist for goodness sake. He's always kind of them isn't he.
xxx for your optimist thoughts though.
subrosa
You probaly right there...Throw George in the pig pen and he will end up Chief Hog
Chief grabber of taxpayer's money you mean Niko.
You realise the divine Carrie is Scottish don't you?
I wish you'd all get off her, er, back, as it were.
Lord & Lady Foulkes came out to stay a few years back in a very posh & exclusive hotel near here. Lady Foulkes, apparently, didn't like it. Not good enough. Too Turkish. So they left. Not by taxi. Nor bus. By helicopter.
If that's not true, Lord & Lady Foulkes, sue me.
Sm753, I couldn't care less what nationality she was, she didn't do her job well in this instance.
That doesn't surprise me in the least John. I'm sure other readers will be interested to read it too, especially Niko who is a big fan of Mr Martin.
Why do Labour always trot this buffoon out for press conferences. He's got a face like congealed vomit on an old potato.
Well, she was between a rock and a hard place. She is paid out of a sort of tax, I suppose. If she had said it was private he would have won too.
I'm not sure though what kind of MSPs/Lards Labour have if they think that 92 is nearly double 63.
Wait for it you ignorant little peer. Your day will come shortly. I have no doubt that the Telegraph will be looking at the Lords and therr thieving very soon.
Time we did away with you.
as i said to malc, this man is indicative of the mantra in labour that you can get somewhere on no talent. the man apparenty, has a very poor grasp on maths. 90k is double 64k. think i need to go lie down. with a calculator
Auch HP when he lies down he gets arrested - didn't you know.
Some detail viz. Foulkes from Iain Dale's Diary: http://iaindale.blogspot.com/2009/05/george-foulkes-is-ultimate-political.html
Thanks Mek, will look now.
Perhaps the lady's employers think she is worth her salary.
...and many of Mi lud's employers wouldn't consider Foulkes to be worthy of receiving a salary of a brass farthing.
.
Very true Tom but he does receive it. I know folk that don't deserve to receive benefits but it doesn't mean to say I can do anything about it. It's all to do with the 'system' and that means our democracy.
An article published on May 16th in the Herald asks,
"Is the the public justified to lose confidence in our politicians."
...and My lord George Foulkes says,"No".
Now there's a surprise. Aye right.
.
Morning Tom. How dare you question the word of wir Lord and MSP? Auch go on then ... I'll join in by saying he's a dangerous idiot.
