A Gold Post Box For Dunblane

It was over 100 years ago a member of Team GB won a singles gold in tennis at the London 2012 Olympics.

Just 45 minutes after winning the singles gold, out-playing Federer most of the match, Andy Murray returned to Centre Court for the mixed doubles final with Laura Robson.  They were narrowly beaten by the top seeds from Belarus.

It was a silver medal gained rather than a gold medal lost for the scratch pairing with such limited experience of playing together.

What a day it was for him.

Before 8am this morning Owen Smith from the Royal Mail's engineering department was seen painting a post box in Dunblane's High Street.  Perfect!

Extraordinary Talent

I can't think of a more appropriate day to post a video of another final which took place earlier in the year. Charlotte Jaconelli, 16 and Jonathan Antoine, 17 didn't win the top prize on Britain's Got Talent (a dog did), but it was a life changing experience for them both.

Their success is credited to two teachers at their comprehensive school.

Today the laddie from Dunblane participates in two finals. What can I say other than to wish him well.  His superb performances on the Wimbledon courts this past week have been wonderfully entertaining and no doubt he will provide more of the same this afternoon.
