Disappearing Car Door

Inventions never cease to amaze and although there are a multitude of questions yet to be answered about such car doors, the idea is superb and very practical.  Shame I'd have to lose the space for my folding umbrella, tissues and antifreeze bottle though. There's always a trade-off.

More information about the technology can be read here.

Sorry Subrosa – but - you can not be serious

After one of the most dramatic days in Scottish politics – you wish to discuss car doors?

- Two outstanding MSP’s resign from the SNP over its change of stance on NATO.
- This leaves the SNP with a majority of only one; with other disgruntled members swithering as to their position
- Ms Sturgeon calmly announces that the Scottish government is only now seeking legal advice on Europe.
- And the unsightly spectacle of Mr Salmond dancing on the head of a pin trying to re-interpret what he had said previously.
- And no one justifying a very costly court case to prevent disclosure of what he now says he didn’t say

So to return to car doors – I use them all the time - to get in and out.

Sorry JRB but sometimes I'm not in a position to react so speedily to events and last night/this morning was one of them.

The post about the travails of Alex Salmond has now been started and hopefully will be completed in time for tomorrow morning.

Subrosa

Please accept my apologies for my inappropriate post. (Unable to delete)

This is your blog and your are perfectly entitled to post on whatever topic you wish.

Had had a restless night and was in a somewhat grumpy, or perhaps more grumpy than usual, disposition this morning.

But no excuses, I was in the wrong.

Please accept my apology

Regards

Rosie,
Many thanks for such an interesting post; I'd never thought there could be an alternative to vertical door hinging, sliding doors or gull wing doors.

Looks like a spoof video to me SR. But I'm just cynical ;)

JRB, you're perfectly entitled to reprimand me. I do need it at times. :)

Apology accepted. I will happily delete your first post if you wish.

Independent England, at that price I'll stick with my trusty sponge and bucket.

No price on the website though Brian. :(

Who said Germans don't have a sense of humour CH?

I'm not sure Monty. It could be considering the website doesn't hold much information.

I can't see how the door would ever pass the side impact crash test SR. There's no reinforced strut between the front and back door. Anyone inside would be squashed like a bug if hit from the side. The roller shutter door wouldn't save them.

That's one of the questions I had too Monty. Actually I would be worried about electronic failures which would trap me in the thing too.

I did a bit of googling.

The BMW Z1 wasn't a success http://youtu.be/nYZ7lAk-BdQ

and neither was the Kaiser Darrin Roadster whose fibreglass doors slid forward into the front wheel fairings http://youtu.be/gyB_B0Cvvyg

Thanks Brian. Thought the Kaiser was a snazzy idea although perhaps quite impractical.

As for the BMW. I'd never get in far less out!
