... But Earth Abides

 A guest post from Apogee.
I have just been looking at the way the vegetation is growing, isn't it amazing what a little extra CO2 and a lot of water can do for the planet.

When reading WUWT about the savannah the thought occurs that the rise of the CO2 levels on this planet are a natural occurrence and nothing to worry about; in fact we should be happy about it.   And more and more it seems that the planet is cooling slowly -  has been for the last twenty years and this is also part of the cycle of life on this dirt ball.
I wonder if the "scientists" and "politicians"  and the speculators in WWF ,IPCC and all the rest of the professional merchants of panic will ever face any inquiry, public or otherwise,  It will be interesting if it happens but too many of the great and good would be in the dock.

The idea that climate is ever "right" or "wrong" or stays the same is the usual PC crap, climate "IS", it changes as it wishes.
Where did this idea come from that "we" could change things, look at the size of the planet, I was reminded of this......

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

the worrying thing is the climate's been changing for 4.5 billion years, so calling people climate change deniers is a bit of a misnoma [sp?] the ones to worry about are the ones that want to keep the climate the same [ipcc al gore etc], now that is impossible. & don't dare even mention that we breathe out CO2, one of the major life giving elements. I guess we could always tax breathing?

Those misguided souls who are trying to 'change' the climate, "be p1ssing in the wind"

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/be-pissing-in-the-wind

Thermodynamically, they would probably have a greater chance of success by actually doing that.

I think this piece ignores the damage being done to the planet by the destruction we see throughout it and the complete removal of the natural habitats of many beautiful and increasingly rare animals. It certainly does have an impact. I don't think anyone could deny that. In every argument you must introduce balance.

Hi,Jo G.Lets talk for a minute about the wind driven generators, otherwise known as bird mincers! Ever been close to one? Rather frightening. And cost of construction? Rather more than the "savings" from the power haphazardly generated. And the environmental damage? A lot of materiel processing and toxic waste involved, elsewhere, not our problem.
Solar power? Without subsidies it is a dead duck, look at the solar panel manufacturing plants that went bust in the States, Mr Obama would like to forget them!
Problem is that "renewable " energy
cannot by its very nature supply the constant output required by city and towns.
Carefully managed a combination of wind generators, solar panels and small private hydro systems along with diesel generators will work to supply two or three houses reasonably economically, but you will never beat the economies of scale of fossil or nuclear stations to supply the modern power demands.
Sorry, but renewable power doesn't cut the mustard. Without subsidies its a busted flush, people don't want the stone age to return,Or the ice age, but I'm still waiting for the (global) warming we have been promised for the last twenty years.
It would really reduce my heating costs in the winter. And a bit of warming ,global or other wise would dry up some of the water that the met offices highly expensive computer didnt tell us about, you know, the one that can tell what the weather will be 100 years in the future! Can we send it back and get our taxes refunded, cos it aint fit for purpose !

Warmist doom mongers like to think that Climate Change (fna Global Warming) has entered the "public conciousness" but any trawl around the thousands of full length natural history vids on Youtube shows that what rhe public has become aware of is that climate change has always been with us, and always will be.

@Jo G. One can be a climate change skeptic and still be in favour of saving the rainforests which is why I deplore the deforestation of Madagaskar to plant sizal with which to make biodegradable packaging and so sooth our worried brows in the West; likewise the rape of the Borneo rainforest for Palm Oil trees to provide biofuels in the USA.

Apogee, thanks for that but my original point stands.

Man is doing great damage to the planet in general and the trail of destruction, involving land and the animals and peoples who inhabit those areas, is nothing short of scandalous.

No one is suggesting "a return to the stone age" either. Rather, many are keen on a more responsible approach to the havoc we cause through our own selfishness. I would say we owe the planet that much and we also owe it to future generations who will have to live with the poison we have left behind for them to deal with.
