Rather than comment about the subsequent comments of Rebekah and Charlie Brooks after they were charged yesterday, I thought I'd share a little humour sent to me by a friend. He's an Englishman who spent his working life working as a journalist.
The rumour that this was uttered by an interviewee at the Leveson Inquiry is completely false.
It was a Scotland/Wales rugby International weekend in Edinburgh and as the crowds made their way Princess Street towards Murrayfield, a Rottweiler suddenly lunged towards an eight year old Scottish lass, with its jaws wide open ready to attack.
The crowd nearby gasped in horror but, quick as a flash, a man in red jumped out of the crowd, grabbed the dog by the throat and throttled it.
As the dead dog lay there, and the crowd cheered in admiration, a journalist from a well-known Scottish newspaper who had witnessed the heroic deed, went up to the man and said:

'Welsh Rugby Fan Saves Young Girl From Certain Death'.
The man replied, 'No you've got it wrong. I'm not here for the rugby!'
'Don't worry' said the journalist, 'I can see the headline now –

'Welshman Saves Girl From Jaws Of Rottweiler'.
The man replied, 'No you're wrong again. I'm not Welsh; I'm from London .'

That's like when the Titanic sank and the Aberdeen paper headline of the event was 'North man lost at sea'.
Ms Brooks should stop making statements as she said yesterday that she 'had always respected the criminal justice system' yet in an inquiry that was televised in 2003 she admitted to making illegal payments to policemen in return for confidential information. Is she not just giving her enemies more sticks to hit her with ?
Oh yes indeed she is RM.
All my life (well most of it) I've know the police get a wee backhander for giving journalists information and didn't see anything wrong with it. I mean, where else would journalists get accurate information? It's when the 'buy yourself a pint' becomes 'buy yourself a holiday home in Spain' becomes public.
There will always be corruption regardless of legislation. It's the amount which needs to be controlled.
As for Ms Brooks perhaps she's being hung out to dry (allegedly)?
There is a delicious if not amusing irony in RB’s (initials are obviously so ‘in’) current plight.
Obviously RB was a capable, savvy but ruthless newspaper executive. Who would think nothing of hounding an individual relentlessly and acting as judge and jury in condemning them out of hand, guilty or not, merely to produce a ‘good’ story.
Now she is the 'story' and the centre of such attention – and it would appear that she doesn’t like it.
And where are all her rich and powerful ‘friends’ now – at her back pushing her into the spotlight, lest it shines on them.
By the way – my sympathies go to the owner of the poor wee Scottish dug so cruelly put down by a thoughtless Englishman.
I tell you - it’s a simile for all our lives, a girning, in-your-face growl is a well recognised Scottish greeting. :)
Surely the headline in a Scottish daily is more likely to read:
BRAVE UNIONIST HERO SAVES GIRL FROM DEATH AFTER ATTACK BY INDEPENDENTLY MINDED BEAST
I dont know which 1 to laugh at more Rosies statement at the end or Tris's.
Both equally as true.
However back to Ms Brooks .......... there is a certain sitting PM and 2 recently departed from office PM's all 3 of whom know full well she "know where the bodies are buried" so to speak. Bet all 3 have not had the best nights sleep since Monday
Dare I admit I sniggered when I heard the news yesterday JRB?
She doesn't like it at all and when I watched her response on TV I could see the despair in her eyes of her social life dropping in the English channel.
I think my friend thought that too. :)

I shouldn't think any of them has had any sleep Mark. They've possibly spent the hours preparing their 'defence' just in case.
