Another Supporter of Independence for Scotland

Under the Reuters' heading 'The Great Debate UK' Paul Henderson Scott has an article entitled 'Is Scotland heading towards independence?'

As well as giving a brief history of the Union between Scotland and England, he comments upon some of the recent very adverse effects it has had on Scotland.

Maybe Alex Salmond could use this paragraph:

David Hume, the great Scottish philosopher, in one of his essays said that small countries were the best form of government because everything lies under the eyes of the ruler. That this is true is apparent, for example, from the fact  that small countries in Europe, many much smaller than Scotland, are among the most prosperous.

The article can be read here.

I'd agree with David Hume, which is why we should get out of the EU. He could have added that in small countries every thing is also under they eyes of the people!
But small countries have to be prepared to reach accommodations with their neighbours in order to do things which would otherwise be impossible to do alone. For example the Scandinavian airline SAS was formed simply because none of the individual countries would have been able to "go alone". Unfortunately, Salmond's attitudes would alienate him from his neighbours!

Whilst conveniently forgetting the very adverse effect it recently had on the English viz the devastating economic effects of those Scottish politicians Brown & Darling.

Brown became a victim of MK ULTRA style brainwashing while in hospital after his eye injury?

Aangirfan - you can't wash what isn't there.

Speaking of washing, couldn't the First Monster at least get the flag ironed? It looks like he's just taken it out of the bag! I have never before seen a country's leader in front of a flag that loks like he's just bought it from a seaside shop.

(BTW, SR, I haven't yet posted that Stuff but it has at least made it as far as my home freezer!)

I didn't realise Salmond irritated you so much EP. :)

The Scottish politicians you speak of were elected on behalf of Britain I think Joe and not Scotland.

Strange how the Scots make such different choices when it's a UK election and one for Holyrood.

Mmm Aangirfan, I'll have to look into that.

Oh dear LI, I just knew someone would comment upon the fact the flag's just been taken out of the bag. Makes me wonder what cats look like when they get out. :)

Don't worry, plenty time.
