Take Your Pick
Apologies for the lack of posting, but I installed Snow Leopard on this computer on Thursday and found I couldn't adjust some fonts which were too small, so I decided to revert to my previous OS system. That worked but Apple's superb Time Machine didn't. After many hours, courtesy of a visit to the Apple Store in Aberdeen today, my backup was manually installed by a whiz kid sporting wonderful facial piercings. I was too overcome by his click, click, clicking to ask much.
Now I'm back to my old OS system and the fonts are still all over the place however I have my computer back.
One lesson I've learned is that I must update my iPad more frequently because I should have been able to post from that source.
For some months I've been trying to widen the blog and can't find a way without delving deep into the HTML world which is, to me, the equivalent of computer hell. However, I had these links saved earlier and do hope they're of interest, albeit controversial, to you.

Hi SR. Nice to see you have most of the problems under control.Loading up a new OS can be very fraught and nerve racking. At least you found some one who knew how to get it working, very useful when it all goes pear shaped.
Now all you have to do is get it into the shape you want it, and that is the interesting bit. Good luck, from someone who has been there before you. you aint the first and won't be the last.
Upgrading is a pain. I've tended to be either a beat tester or a very early adopter of various new operating systems. No guarantees of how they will work and no real rule of thumb.
I upgraded to Lion as soon as it was released and it's been mostly ok. I lost my wireless extender though as there is no driver available yet for Lion. That's a pain when I'm in the office upstairs.
Glad you are sorted. I've also started extending my blog trying to emulate your success.
Danny, the font business is driving me mad. I thought when the laddie restored things from before I installed Snow Leopard that my fonts would go back to what they were - but alas. And I don't know how to fix it all. :(
Petem, the reason I uploaded Snow was because I was interested in upgrading to Leopard, but when the whole font and linage when to pieces and was nigh on unreadable, that was enough.
Going back to the old system has caused problems I see. I'm locked out of itunes now and can't update.
That's for tomorrow. I've had enough the past 24 hours.
Subrosa, if delve a little into the html, there is a varible called width:
You can go into the design function then edit html, then play about with the widths of each element in your blog page.
If you view the source of my page using your browser, you can see where I've increased the value of width.
You can preview any changes you make without having to save them by clicking on the preview button. If you don't like the changes you've made, then don't save them. Simple as that.
Many thanks for the link!
Hope it's sunny in Dundee.
Cheers.

Thanks for that Del. I may have to ask you for more detail though.
My pleasure Aangirfan.
cheers for the recommendation, much obliged.
q - do you find your ipad useful for really meaty computer tasks?
just curious about your comment on publishing articles written on an ipad....
Jed, I've never tried publishing on my iPad but I'm having trouble with the big iMac right now so wanted to try. Will see if I can later in the week because this one is going to have to go back to the shop again this week. Can't do even simple downloads now.
cheers, i am keen to hear your findings.
it is one of my eternal tech questions; whether a touch-screen device will ever be able to properly allow productivity computing?
Jed, send me your email please and I'll update you. Spent today getting to the Apple store in Aberdeen, getting things fixed (to a point) etc so have no energy as brain's boggled right now.
I think it ought to be possible to blog reasonably on an iPad but impossible to place an image with a post. I could be wrong. :)
