A Topical Painting

Caravaggio 1753-1610
 'The Tooth Extraction'

At 2am this morning I thought I'd deaden the head-banging toothache which woke me.  Unfortunately my cures - whisky, cloves, toothpaste - didn't produce a positive result, so this evening I intend to put my feet up and do nothing.  Hopefully my face and brain will be defrosted by morning.

Ouch! Sorry to hear this, Rose. One suggestion - if Scotch doesn't work, try doubling the quantity. And then double again, and so on.

You obviously didn't use enough whisky.

('cos you've been able to write this posting)

I'm just imagining you mixing that cocktail. I wonder what it would be called?
A white cloven scots lady, bartender. And make it snappy.

Richard, I did. It's amazing you don't notice your consumption in the depth of the night. ;)

I had enough Joe, just to realise it wasn't doing anything. :)

Actually FE, it could catch on as a toothpaste couldn't it.

Deepest sympathy - it is a uniquely horrible experience.

Dear Subrosa
I know the pain!
It's hell!

Supposedly it should improve once the offending piece of porcelain is removed Gildas. Supposedly.

Tomorrow's another day.

Much sympathy SR - hope you can get a dentist tomorrow. Meantime console yourself with the words of the bard - "the hell of all diseases!"

Dram I visited the dentist this afternoon. It's still painful although he extracted it but because it's a lower tooth the infection may not be draining. Salt water mouthwash, paracetemol and to bed I think.

Thanks for your sympathy.

SR, I was about to say: Get thee to a dentist. But you have done so.
With the greatest reluctance, I recommend that you keep off the hard stuff for at least a couple of weeks, maybe three.
It may ease the pain (like heroin, known as diamorphine in the NHS), but it won't help you in the long run.

PS I'm becoming a bit fed up with having to jump through hoops to comment here. Some images are suppressed, then I am told the characters I entered didn't match the word verification.
I'm pretty sure they did match first time. If I persevere, my comments usually get through.
I'll try again.
I think word verification is noubahl.
I am now told the word verification is phosp, so I will try for the last time.

Hello Hamish. I so seldom touch the 'hard stuff' because I don't particularly like it so it will possibly be some time before I do again. It seemed the last resort in the middle of the night.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having problems getting in here. I'll have a word with someone who knows about blogger I think because I find, when I type, there is a slight delay.

Bear with me.
