Now You See It...

Now you see it:

Now you don't:

It was all rather frantic down the road yesterday. I'm told, from a reliable source, that tears and tempers were involved.

Scone Palace (pronounced Scoon) is one of Scotland's main visitor attractions.  The 16th century archway, the oldest surviving part of the palace, was reduced to rubble yesterday by a white van driver.

The iconic symbol was all that remained of the approach to the Augustinian Abbey, which once stood on the palace lawns. It was hit by a van being driven by contractors.  The driver was on his way to pick up a marquee used at an event over the weekend.  He misjudged the height of the arch and smashed into it - rather like bus drivers who don't know the height of their vehicles.

It's hoped that the archway can be repaired and conservation architects are due to visit the site this week.

On a personal note, if you're visiting Perthshire, I much prefer Glamis Castle which is not so commercialised  and offers far more value for money.

This story affected me more than I expected.

And I am with you on Glamis. A great day out. If I remember correctly they even have open log fires roaring in the massive fireplaces.

That will show the political class not to trust 'Van Man'!

Seriously, the music that Eric Coates wrote for Elizabeth of Glamis is just so beautiful - and descriptive of EofG, who was one hell of an attractive lady!(bit like you,Rosie)

Trust you blushing.........?

Since labour are now led by a "new" generation all matters and edifices with a past are to be destroyed. Ed Taliband says, so there!
