Looks like any lodge-styled house in the north of Scotland doesn't it? But it's not. This house - a mile north east of Inverbervie - is built into the brow of a hill that provides a commanding hill-top position overlooking the North Sea and the Howe of the Mearns.
The property is a 25 room complex and the house is a front for a bunker which was built by the MoD as an emergency communications centre in 1952. The current owner, who bought it from the MoD in 1999, is looking for a price over £250,000.
The site provides 9000 square feet of floor space on two levels. A sloping narrow corridor takes you 18 metres underground into the bunker which was built as a centimetric early warning radar station. With the advent of supersonic, high flying bombers every second saved in warning and control was vital.
Before you consider a purchase read the history of the bunker. It's fascinating.

Raoul Moat is asking for directions........
Oh Joe!
Back in the 90s, the MOD put Pitreavie House in Dunfermline and its associated bunker, the old "HQ2", up for sale. I'd spent many a happy night there - it was the officers mess for the HQ.
Asking price was similar but I couldn't quite raise the dosh. :(
It's now flats ...
Ah now SE, you're taking me back in time. I remember a younger member of the family going on an outing there with the school history teacher. Left an impression I must say.
This was another place that impressed:

Seems the right sort of place for a certain ex-Prime Minister to write their memoirs
Actually Mrs R, when I was writing the post I thought exactly that! 'Why isn't Gordoom buying it?' He can afford it although of course he pleads poverty.
I'm still trying to find anyone I know around the area who has ever been in it since it was sold or even before. One friend said they knew a few folk who worked there before it was put on the public market, but that's as far as I've got.
