Comments

For some inexplicable reason comments aren't being published today. I've no idea why this is happening. I've checked settings, rebooted and spend quite some time searching for an answer in Google.

My apologies to all those who have commented today. I have replied. Perhaps your comments will be published when the problem is resolved.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful.

Update: Comment are there now even although it's stating '0 comments', so something is happening and it seems I'm not alone. Good to know.

Latest Update 7.00am: Everything appears back to normal. Phew!

It's been happening last night and all today at mine too. All commentsd have now appeared, though. I think Blooger have sorted it. If not, I hope yours come back soon.

Blooger - it's a typo, but perhaps I should copyright it.

Hi Richard. Yes the comments have come back but it still says 0 comments on the posts. Will amend my wee post to explain that.

Just checked, and my comments numbers are all wrong too. I was so pleased when all the comments came back that I didn't look at the numbers. At least it seems that 'Blooger' are on the case.

I've had problems with mine all day. I'm thinking of switching over to "IntenseDebate" as it's free and fairly aesthetically pleasing. Every couple of months Blogger seems to throw a fit. I don't get many comments, and want to cherish the ones I do get ;-)

@CS - will have to investigate that. I have had a few problems with Blogger, but they always seem to be resolved quickly. This one was a major bummer. Like you, I get only a modest number of comments, I don't like to lose any of them :)

Ah, it says you haven't got any comments, but it looks as if they're arriving.

Obo's having problems too http://obotheclown.blogspot.com/2010/07/blogger-losing-comments.html

Here you go, Richard:

http://intensedebate.com/

I've been faffing around on a test blog I set up under my Blogger account, and it seems to work OK.

The Blogger widget version is a bit on the slow side though, so if you're able to dig around your template code and install manually, that may work out for the best.

Thanks for the link - I'll have a look at that tomorrow. If I could run the blog without having to swap between my main email account and my blog account tnat would be a major plus - the rigid linking of Blogger and Google is annoying. Cheers!

Intense debate is a pest CS. I've to complete my nickname, email and blog URL every time I use it, hence I only comment on blogs which use it when I'm either seriously angry or pleased.

They seem to be coming back right enough.

Ah thank you Mrs R, most kind of you to keep me informed. They're back now I think.

I set up a separate google account for blogger Richard and also my subrosablonde email. Keeps everything blog related together.

I have separate Google accounts for general use and blogging. That keeps the blog stuff separate and it's satisfactory in that way. But I seem to spend the evenings swapping between the two accounts, which is tedious. If Google allowed one to be logged into two accounts at once it would be fine. I was only wondering if a different blog platform would be more convenient. If ID is a hassle, then that's the end of that for me. I don't blog to be hassled!

Richard, I don't know if this is any help but I have a gmail account for copies of my comments and my subrosablonde account is a yahoo one. Both google and yahoo insist you close one before opening the other. This way I can have both blog related email addresses open in tabs.
