Meet Rooster and Gobi, cock-a hoop at being saved from the jaws of extinction. They are possibly the most expensive cockerels in the country and pose happily with their new owners.
The people of Inverbervie, in north east Scotland, complained to their owner's father, Alex Panayotti 52, that the noise the cockerels made was making their lives a misery.
Then they made history at Stonehaven Sheriff Court in a case which cost Mr Panayotti well in excess of £3000, (which was only the services of a sound expert), when he tried to prove the birds did not constitute a statutory nuisance.
Mr Panayotti said the cockerels have provided his daughter Stella, who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome, with much needed diversion. Attempts to make their coop soundproof and moving it to the most remote part of the garden failed to pacify the neighbours who called in Aberdeenshire Council environmental health officers.
Following the court hearing the Sheriff ruled that the council was not unreasonable in serving a noise abatement notice seeking the cockerels' removal. Immediately the owners of Auchingarrich centre in Crieff offered help and the two rowdy roosters were delivered to their new home at the weekend. Though sorry to lose her pets Stella said: "This is a happy ending."
I'm just grateful I don't live in Kosovo next door to this one.

I thought the most expensive cocks in the country had just been voted out?
Uncle Marvo they have, they have. Still rule Scotland, though!
Marvo, I just knew this post would be wide open for humour.
Must admit, that's a good one though. :)
Sadly yes OR, but hey, next year things may be better.
Morning Subrosa
This is the seemingly innocuous little story that raises my blood-pressure to dangerously high levels.
Have the good people of Inverbervie, a small rural village, nothing else to worry about than the crowing of a couple of cockerels. I’m not sure who is worse, the residents for complaining, or the Sheriff for indulging such nonsense.
Will the innocent thrush or blackbird be next on their list, or perhaps it will be the incessant bleating of lambs.
Perhaps they are only happy listening to the roar of their motor vehicle or the blare of their cinematic stereophonic surround sound system or perhaps the screaming of their kids is music to their ears.
God help the countryside from the ingress of ‘townies’ who seem to dislike the sights, sounds and smells that are the countryside.
… and before anyone asks, yes, I have three –
‘Olivander’ (an Orpington)
‘Blodger’ (a Brahma)
‘The Wee Man’ (a Scots Dumpy)
Their crowing is as natural as the dawning of the day.
Has it got wind?!?!? It would make a FINE coq-au-vin, I'm sure! ;-
Morning John. I think the complaints are from folk who like living the 'country life' without the country living around them.
I was brought up in the city but spend all my holidays in a rather isolated community in Aberdeenshire. As you say the cocks crowing were as natural as daybreak. My aunt used to allow me to feed them - a concoction of meal and something else. I can still smell it, wonderful it was.
Lovely names John. They're such elegant birds. The Wee Man conjures up pictures of his human equivalent...
You mean the one in Kosovo Mazda? I think it has a longing for a motor bike.
Strange Rosa, I've done something similar this morning(first day without various grandchildren for ages;¬)
Go out Conan! Avoid the council calling to warn you. :)
