That's interesting. Compare it with how the BBC report it.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8633642.stm

"Brazil tops the list with 3,663 data requests while the US made 3,580 and the UK came a distant third with 1,166."

The facts are the US using the Patriots Act doesn't make data request it simply demands or puts teams in place to extract the data.

This also applies to money and credit transfers, where they have permanent teams in First Data, the largest data organisation in the world which handles 80% of financial transactions from the billions of Merchant Banks to the 20quid on your credit card.

All part off the strategy to keep you safe from the terrorists folks.

Hi Alan. Surely the BBC don't think the average person doesn't have an idea about population numbers of Brazil or the US?

Then again, that wouldn't surprise me.

Jings RA, I wonder how long that system's been in place in the US? Possibly many years yet slightly modernised over time.

Since 2002 Rosa - Patriot Act

Thank you for that RA. I will do a little research.

Come to think of it, didn't the young woman, who eventually exposed the expenses diddle come from the US?

Crinkly & Ragged Arsed Philosophers said...

She did Rosa, but she used the FoI.

Of course the US feeds Israel with the data it gets from these sources to track the Palistinians.

Seem's their are hidden values to add to the benefits of plastic values.

I can't see Western Union blossoming in the Arab world.
