Glasgow - 'Fast Living and Style'

As many as one in ten Glaswegians are prepared to seek treatments such as Botox injections to improve their appearance.

Modern cosmetic treatments, such as liposuction and breast enlargements, are growing by up to 20% a year in Scotland. One of 13 big cosmetic centres operating in Glasgow released figures yesterday and they showed that in the current financial year its facial and abdominal procedures in Glasgow were up 66% on 2009. Surgical procedures were up 16%.

Precise numbers of patients are hard to come by because the sector is unregulated. There are estimated to be at least another 50 small, shop-based businesses in Glasgow offering walk-in cosmetic procedures of all kinds.

The most popular treatment is Botox at about £200 for one treatment to remove frown lines. Breast augmentation, costing about £4,300, is the most popular surgical procedure.

Next time anyone you know says they're off to Glasgow for the day, check them out closely upon their return.

Plastic surgery's spiritual home based on glassed face reconstruction expertise, Subrosa. London specialises in knife wound trechniques.

Alex Ferguson chews a great deal of gum. It gives him that square jaw feature and makes his "hair dryer" conversations so much more effective. Is Botox treatment cheaper or more expensive?

Vanity, vanity - all is vanity.

Squash damaged back causing me to use Mrs OR's posh lap top. Technique as a word to type seems iffy!

It's the modern version of cloning OR.

I couldn't possibly answer that Demetrius. Going by the amount of gum he chews and that fact that Botox seems to vary from £150 - £250, it could be a close thing.

I'll bet you never thought your city would turn into a cosmetic capital scunnert. ;)

Isn't it time you took up something less physically demanding OR? Like bridge. ;)

"Tens of thousands of women 'should contact plastic surgeon over breast implants'"

Industry regulators warned that the French company Poly Implant Prothese implants had been found to contain an unauthorised silicone gel.

Can they augment Willies?

I believe they can DL, let me check with a 'friend'. ;)

Joe, I'm appalled this sector of 'medical health' is unregulated. I know of a woman in Dundee who went to London to a very 'reputable' surgeon for a face and eye lift. She looks weird yet she can do nothing about it because the surgeon now works in France and she can't afford to sue as lawyers want a five figure deposit before they take on the work.

OR is right about the glassing technique, of course. But let's not forget the essential 'severe malky', adminsistered with the aid of a 'steaky', to help people blend in with their surroundings in Glasgow's more select residential areas. Akin of course to the ancient bodily modification of scarification, with which it shares common ancestry atavistically.

Oh Jim, I do wish you didn't post that just while I was having my pre-dinner sherry(s).

Jim, I will leave your message at his place too.

Jim, you're right, I never read it. But, I remember you playing keepy-uppy against England at Wembley.. Far more important!
