Afghanistan

Another soldier from 3 RIFLES has been killed in Afghanistan this morning.

Lieutenant Colonel David Wakefield said:

"It is with deep sadness I have to inform you that a British soldier from 3 RIFLES lost his life this morning as a result of small arms fire.

"He was on a deliberate operation against insurgents to the south of Sangin District Centre, near Patrol Base, Suffolk, when he was shot.

"He died boldly taking the fight to the enemy and will not be forgotten."

My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Britain has now lost 270 of its armed services in the Afghanistan war.

Let us hope that we do not have a 271st example of why we should not be there, before politicians bow to public will.

Unfortunately I know that the 271st example will occur before we get the hell out of that country.

There is still time to stop this madness. If the collective will of the mainstream media were to round on the government, just as Walter Cronkite did over Vietnam, instead of giving its tacit approval, this slaughter would end.

The war in Afghanistan is unwinable. If the Russians, who had less charming ways of going about it, failed, how much more will men of bravery, courage and integrity fail?

I have a feeling we'll be there for years WFW as no politician has any interest in withdrawing from this.

Ah WW, in a democracy yes but particularly the Scottish press in is the control of the labour party.

Out of sight out of mind it is for our politicians, with their fake platitudes to the fallen at PMQs.

This war is winnable if we have the resolve to use limited and precisely guided nuclear missiles.
Otherwise, we should be getting out of there quickly and never have gone in there in the first place
