Levein Takes Over Scotland

I'm not great football supporter, but I have a certain loyalty to Dundee United as it's the team both my Dad and Grandpa supported.

All week it's been on the cards that Craig Levein will accept the offer to manager Scotland's football team and today he's signing on the dotted line if he can manage from his home in Fife to Glasgow and the overnight snow doesn't cause him problems.

It's understood that Levein's assistant manager at United will also leave Tannadice to be Scotland's part-time assistant manager, though he could retain an involvement at the club.

The SFA are content that they acted properly in their pursuit of Levein but the chairman of United considers they have been treated disrespectfully.

United fans will be bitterly disappointed losing Craig Levein since he has improved their performance but the world of football is a cut-throat business and it's time Scotland had a team that wins matches.

So Mr Levein - over to you and good luck!

Yes, perhaps the Scots can raise their game again to the levels where the mighty Faeroe Isles are no longer a threat!

I know, I know, I'll get my coat ;-)

Did your Granpa support Dundee Utd or was it Dundee Hibs then?
Hope Levein can do the business, including showing the prima donnas who's the boss.

You're right I think Andrew. It was a third rate club in those days and his favourite although he also supported Dundee because he liked Dens Park as a stadium. It was impressive back in the 50s.
