Matthew Parris, in his Times column, uses the headline 'Gordon Brown has resigned. Did you know?'
Matthew has been away on holiday and upon returning to Britain he finds our Prime Minister, in at least one deep and mysterious sense, still away.
Weird-sounding to say this, I realise, but I have the strongest of impressions that Mr Brown has already resigned. I’m not sure on what level I mean that — whether perhaps I just mean he is resigned; or that he has taken a mental step still to be followed up by action; or that an agreement has been reached but has yet to be disclosed. But of one thing I’m strangely sure: that in some way, and on some level, Mr Brown has gone.
Oh, how I wish it was true, don't you?

Subrosa,
his old mind is still living in the romance that is the past.
His new mind is crying in a corner wanting his mummy!
Matthew is picking up on something very profound giving us a glimmer about what's happening to our country.
Our PM realises he's not fitted for the future.
Heads up.
Fat chance, he's hiding. I reckon he's bipolar (on a depressive phase) like Obamarama!
Scarey to think he's supposedly in charge of the country though Incoming.
I feel that there is more truth than rumour.
Brown is a gonner or realises that this will soon be the case.
Maybe he realises that he cannot now climb the big hill before the next election? Either that or he knows that we are about to go back down into another economic slump as QE is eased and the economy cannot rise back in the time-frame that he requires.
Or both?
Where to next?
Sue, I think he is a serious depressive plus has a few other problems.
A few weeks ago I was speaking to someone who went to Uni with him and they said, although he attended the parties etc, he always stood apart from the rest. Seldom contributed to anything. His attitude to females was strange too.
Aye Billy I feel that too and Matthew's hit on something many think.
Where to? He won't resign I'm sure but then I hope I have to eat my words.
Medical discharge because of deteriorating eyesight
If he does resign it will only be after he's completed his scorched earth policy.
I checked there are no crowds out in the street celebrating so he has not resigned yet. Pity!
SR,
Aye and the Torygraph has an interesting article on the 3 Government Ministers who all visited Libya in the last 12-18 months.
Mandy's been caught out fondling bums again!
Crazy D
Brown must be resigned to the fact there can be no saving him or the Labour Party. I am convinced the only thing keeping him in No10 Downing Street is Peter Mandelson who wants to ensure the Lisbon Treaty is a done deal before they go to the polls.
Mandy knows they are going to be hammered and if Cameron gets in before Lisbon is ratified then the Tory leader will have to honour his promise of a referendum on it. Cameron has stated many times that if the Lisbon Treaty is ratified by the time he takes office he will do nothing about it.
Mandy has to keep Brown in place until the Irish have been bullied into voting 'Yes' (they got it wrong last time!) and Vaclav Klaus the President of the Czech Republic has caved in. Once that is done and the Lisbon Treaty is in place we will all be resigned to the fact we will be living in a new country called 'Europe' and Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland will cease to be countries in their own right.
You think so or is it only wishful thinking Billy?
His scorched earth policy seems to be smouldering along nicely OR.
Bummer eh FL. I thought I heard cheering a wee while ago but it was only my lovely binmen sharing a possibly lewd joke. They refused to tell me what it was. :(
Aye CD, I think it's worth putting up that link don't you.
His eyesight is SubR his way out.
I really do thibk so.
There were rumours a few months ago Billy and I've noticed his notes for PMQs are in about 20pt. You may well be right but would that be a good enough excuse?
Family etc
There will be / has already been fixed a "global" position for him which be a great challenge and allow him to spend more time with family, out of the limelight etc etc etc
I was hoping you were right Subrosa until I started thinking who would replace him. Agghh!!!
He cant resign - I want to help sack him!
Some theories prove correct Billy but as scunnert says who will it be. Johnson?
My money's on Harriet scunnert. ;)
Dram, we can't have it both ways - or can we??
