The photograph is of Matt Waddup, Head of Campaigns, Organising, Recruitment and Training at the newly merged University and College Union (UCU). Impressive title for such a small-minded individual isn't it.
Craig Murray is standing as an Independent in the Norwich North by-election yet he has been denied a place at the hustings which take place this Thursday evening.
The little man with the big title Mark Waddup decided that Craig had not polled enough interest to be invited, although he knew full well that the poll was taken before Craig started campaigning. Not to be invited to a hustings, especially as it is a debate on the future of education, is undemocratic and illegal. Craig Murray is presently rector of Dundee University, one of Scotland's oldest centres of further education.
Mike Smithson also has a post entitled ' Are the rules stacked against any indy challenge' which you may find of interest.
It does seem the establishment is quite determined to keep out those who do not belong to the main parties, aided and abetted by the media of course. Another stain on our democracy.

WADDUP? Why do I fell like a cheap American beer now?
Oh I just discovered he's actually Matt, not Mark.
Thank you Monty for pointing that out. I've amended it. The site I used called him Mark but he obviously didn't impress them either.
Do you know of him?
You may be correct in blaming all the mainstream parties but I think you will find that the heavy handed stuff is straight from Labour's nasty wing. Craig really rocked the applecart when he highlighted UK Embassies world wide advertising for immigrants to flood the UK.
Quite a few of the commenters on Craig's site think that, but election rules should be adhered to don't you think OR.
If they get away with this they'll get away with much more during the election.
Of course Craig isn't the flavour of the month with the government. After all he exposed their lies, lies and damned lies.
Matt or Mike Waddup
Labour apparatchik?
On the bright side - there is the benefit of the oxygen of publicity for Mr Murray if Mr Waddup continues to fib and refuses to recognise the experiential contribution missed by ignoring the opportunity of a University Rector to speak to a largely university based audience. Of course it's bias - it would be more shocking if Mr Murray had been openly invited! Mr Waddup seems to be in the habit of excluding people who run counter to his attitude.
Subrosa - I'm awaiting the delivery of 'Democracy for the Few' from the US by Professor Parenti - I tracked one down as it is now almost impossible to get get hold of a copy - do you think I should send it to Mr Waddup when I'm finished as he appears to adhere to the thrust (his name is Waddup afterall) of its title?
Wouldn't surprise me bugger lugs, not in the least.
Afternoon Clarinda, indeed you're right and that's one reason I did the post - to ensure Mr Waddup was aware of his failings.
Clarinda, don't you dare send your Parenti book to that fool, I doubt if he would read it anyway. He appears to know it all don't you think.
