Andy Murray, winner of the AEGON championships at Queens Club, London and first British winner since 1934. I've no idea when a Scot last won it if ever. He beat James Blake 7-5 6-4 in an enthralling match.

Fantastic match - he's awesome! Wonder if it's his year at Wimbledon this year? ;-)
"British"? I am somewhat pleased you used that adjective rather than Scottish, if you know what I mean!
Rosa.
Just before new year I posted on my blog my predictions for 2009- one of which was Andy Murray winning one of the grand slam tourniments.
His wonderful win today augurs well for wimbledon in two weeks time.

Hi TP. No I don't think it's his year. The two best players we've ever known are in the running but I'd hope he'd make the semi-finals.
Oh OR, I said British because one of the commentators said "He's British when he wins and Scottish when he loses." Nothing racist in the least!
I'm pleased to notice he's kept some of his Scottish accent even though he's seldom home these days. Good for him. I kept mine too and I'm now very grateful I did.
You're not doing too bad BD, but I doubt a few will come to pass. However, I won't tell you the ones I'm negative about - wouldn't want to lose any bet. :)
Is this the same Tennis that was married to Thatcher? I see England won at the cricket - what a great day to be British.
Hooray for the Kid.
Erm brownlie, take more water with it will you? A good day for Scotland and a proud one.
Admiral, do you get top tennis matches like this on TV over there?
No we don't. I love tennis and I keep up with it on google sports.
I hope Andy tears them up at Wimbledon.
Well done Andy. We're proud of you mate!
Auch that's a shame Admiral. It was a great match today. Hopefully someone will put the good ones from Wimbledon on Youtube but of course each video can only last 10 minutes. Could take a lot to put up a whole match.
Fingers crossed for Andy at Wimbledon!
Aye indeed Jim and I'm hoping he gets to the semis at least but he may even get to the finals if he continues to play the way he is at present.
Good on Andy..What is Henman up to these days? Is he one of the ball boys ? Im not a big Tennis fan but someone like Murray has light some interest on the game for me..
Yoohoo Spook, I was hearing you're sunburnt! That'll teach you to nip off to the west coast without yer sunscreen.
Andy has reignited my interest in tennis too. For the past few years it's been a sake of strength rather than skill but he does keep me enthralled with his adventurous play. So keep watching, although I have little hope for him winning Wimbledon this year. The top two are the best the world has ever known and for Andy to be 3rd is simply superb.
