Who Do I Think I Am?

Who Do I Think I Am?

I don't really know who you think you are Jim Murphy but I do know you have no interest whatsoever in Scotland, her future or her people. You're another mouthpiece for Gordon Brown and your only interest is your career progression and ensuring the labour party get back in power in Scotland.

The Scotsman reports today that Alex Salmond requested a meeting between the Scottish cabinet and the UK cabinet when Mr Brown comes to Glasgow on Thursday to host a meeting of the UK cabinet.

Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy rejected the offer on behalf of the Prime Minister and suggested instead that substantial progress could be made over dinner the night before.  He told Mr Salmond, "If you feel that your colleagues in the Scottish Cabinet would also welcome an update on the steps being taken by the government then I would be more than happy to attend a future meeting of the Scottish Cabinet."  (Editor's note: that's insolence and not at all clever.)

The rejection of Mr Salmond's call for a joint Cabinet meeting and that final offer provoked an indignant response from the First Minister.  A spokesman for Mr Salmond said,"It is disappointing that the UK government has failed to take this unprecedented opportunity to hold a joint meeting of the Scottish and UK Cabinets in order to discuss and develop the measures needed for economic recovery. Unfortunately, Jim Murphy's letter does not rise to the economic callenges of the times, or indeed his own rhetoric about the importance of joint working, which now has the appearance of spin rather than substance."

So, once again Jim Murphy proves his worth to the labour party by degrading the Scottish government. Along with his boss he continues to ensure that Scotland is kept at heel with his negative attitude to any positive action from Alex Salmond.

Aye Jim Murphy, we know who you are.

Given what we've been hearing today about the ruthlessness of the Labour Party in Scotland (and Wales too) they will be even more desperate to reclaim a majority in the SE so that they at least have one power base when they are ousted from Westminster at the general election.

So giving Alex Salmond any credence is just part of their game plan. Is that a reasonable interpretation of this snub?

Gosh Ted you're a faster learner, I'm impressed. That's it in a nutshell Ted. Been that way for years here as labour always thought they were the lords and masters and it's become worse since the SNP became the government.

You're spot on with your assessment of Jim Murphy. I've watched him speak in the HoC many times and there's no doubt he's just 'His Master's Voice' - a weasel. It's a shame they're not amenable to the joint cabinet session; even I think it would have been a good step forward.

Im afraid the British (westminster) cabinet will never, never sit down with another.

And that will be the same of any Westminster government of any political party or coalition.

"He would also require his Scottish Secretary to conduct monthly meetings with the First Minister,"

the conservative are already working on a Plan to eliminate Scottish representation at Westminster...Don't you ever read wardog

subrosa said...

Of course I read Wardog Niko you know that fine. I would never expect Westminster to treat Scotland as an equal partner that's the crux of the whole problem. This is just another very good example of domination as it has been for generations.

If that's what people want then all well and good. I never like to see anyone treated unfairly/unequally. That's perhaps one of the areas where you and me differ.

Thanks for the link, jings I'd forgotten about that film. Saw the original at a wee London picture house many years ago now. Was just as scarey then.

Do you think the SoSfS has ever seen it?

Murphy,

In my opinion is "a waste of rations" and if he were on my ship he'd be float tested and as scum floats he'd have a few weights tied aroon his kweets (tae quote ma maw)!

Fish food is what he'd end up as - puir wee fishies!

Hopefully if there's any justice he'll be voted oot on his erse next time aroon!

I wish I'd thought of 'waste of rations' but you're right CD. He's another I just can't bear to watch on TV and it takes me all my control to listen to him on radio but I do because it's only fair (?) I hear what he says.

Why have you stopped printing my comments and responding on my site? It isn't me - I wouldn't know the why or wherefore.

GV I wouldn't dram of not publishing your comment and also not responding on your site. I think I was on your site today in fact although I didn't leave a comment.

I'm going straight to your site to tell you this too before I go into the great city and buy another security light as the one over the garage has given up the ghost.

Jim Murphy = Weasel?

I was going to post something based on the SNP's view. I know nothing of the SNP and just wanted to know more.

Just ask Nurse over there.

Mea culpa. Perhaps I'm just a little bit paranoid at the moment? Whoever is plaguing you, I hope you get it sorted out.

subrosa said...

GV I do hope you're not associating Jim Murphy with the blogger of that name ;)

subrosa said...

Oh GV stop being paranoid. They're going to get us in the end anyway. They've nearly completed their task, haven't you noticed?

Hey please don't apologise. I feel bad about this comment control thing and I'm not used to it. I've been told to leave it on for a couple of days then the relevant software will by that time, have been shown to be on target.

GV Have a wee read of some of my posts regarding the SNP and also I shall send you a list of bloggers who are excellent with the SNP's viewpoint and not necessarily from a biased angle. I'll go and write that down to remind me :)

Now I'm going to have supper. Got too involved chatting in Dobbies. I shouldn't be allowed out except on a leash.

FC I'm not sure he'd be bothered about asking nurse, as long as she handed over the tape every day it wouldn't matter.

subrosa said...

Perhaps I should have said CD in these modern times FC. Forgive me. Holyrood Patter will certainly be thinking I'm old enough to be his granny speaking about tapes, and of course he'll be right.

GV I think I see the comment you thought I ignored - your first one. I have to admit, if any unionists read this blog, that having an lovely Englishman like you think the joint cabinet meeting would have been good for the UK, surely will give them food for thought.
