The BBC Daily Politics Show trailed their guest list as usual for today's show and Guido Fawkes was amongst them. He states he was told, just before the programme took to the air, the show had received a fax from the labour press office complaining about his presence.
This is a double-edged sword for the BBC. A few months ago no doubt the fact that the labour press office had been in touch with any show would have been hushed. So a little credit to the Daily Politics show's team for being upfront. When will labour begin to understand that even the BBC have lost faith in them. I wonder if this blatant manipulation of the national broadcaster we all own ever happens with BBC Scotland, or if it does will we ever know?
A question for those of you who don't have a television and therefore don't pay the BBC tax. Did you know if you watch any BBC programme live online you require to pay the licence fee? There's no charge, at present, for viewing via iPlayer but it's on the cards.

Aye subrosa, I saw that over at Guido's site. I think it's too late for New Labour now. In the parlance of our times the culture of spinning and manipulation is "institutional". After 12 years (plus a bit before that) they simply don't know any other way to function. Even if they wanted to change I really don't think they could.
Interesting. Will that mean that everyone with an iphone or internet access will require a tv licence, even if they never use it for watching tv?
Seems to me that the days of a tv licence being a good idea are well and truly over.
I don't have a tv, or therefore a licence, quite simply because I never watch any tv... but I have to own up to watching a programme the other night on the iplayer....
I'll probably be in jail by the time you read this!!!
The Labour Party still don't seem to understand - their spin machine is in the process of being blown wide open and there's nothing they can do about it. To paraphrase Brown himself: there's nothing they can do or say which we will ever believe again. From what I saw of BBC Scotland the other day (yes, I'm trying to learn!) they're rather more patronising towards the Scots, if that's possible. It was like going back to the days of The White Heather Club.
Subrosa,
Are the Labour Media Advisers prevented from using tools at home for DIY? Because they'd stand their all weekend with a nail gun shooting themselves in the foot, what a bunch of hopeless cretins - I suppose they think it's all a game - betting with peoples'lives.
It's a good thing Guido regularly puts the boot in, I admire him for his tenacity and his ability to shine some light in these dark times, he's also got his finger on the pulse south of the border.
Now back to the BBC or EBC, I personally don't pay the licence fee, haven't done so for 14 years. I blatantly refuse to do so, I'm not Noel Edmonds and trying to be a public martyr, I choose to ignore the EBC the same way as they choose to ignore my right to unbiased andbalanced reporting about Scotland.
If they don't like it then they can fuck off!
Crazy Daisy
You're right FL. Labour need to start all over again and get rid of all the union-affiliated people. They're fast their sell-by dates. Do I think they will? Never. The unions fund them and that's part of their downfall.
Tris, they'll be coming to get you! More and more folk don't have TV. There's a website somewhere for them and it's quite interesting. Google it or Yahoo it.
GV I'm SO impressed with you watching BBC Scotland. Thankfully you'll now realise why we shout about bias here and yes, we're patronised to the 'nth' degree. Fortunately people are beginning to say enough.
CD you're a brave man in more ways than one. Should I have to move from here I won't pay the licence either. I tried, a few years ago, not to pay but had these thugs at the door so I coughed up. Speak about intimidation...
Subrosa
so Union affiliated people are evil does the same apply to those people affiliated to business organisations?.
PS -as your at heart a conservative you don't need to answer as i already know it,
anyway aside from that please could you turn off your comment moderation. As all the loonies having nowhere to go are popping up elsewhere having deleted a few blocked some more.
am getting fed up with em........
Labour's influence over the EBC Scotland apparently includes the ability to dictate who can present political programmes. See the second paragraph: http://tinyurl.com/covj7w
No it doesn't Niko. I've belonged to a business organisation in the past and it was my choice to do so. Also my monthly subscription wasn't deducted from my pay.
Nope, I won't turn off my moderation, well maybe I'd think about it if you stopped calling me a tory.
Aye Sylvander, I read that. Weren't you suspicious when Ian disappeared from the BBC. Quite a few people were if I remember and that was the rumour going round.
Good to hear we're not all paranoid isn't it.
Good luck to Guido as the BBC backtracks just like the Guardian is doing for fear of a Labour catastrophe at the polls.
I haven't watched telly for years, my 'TV set' looks like one but isn't since it is not able to recieve terrestrial signals and my Sky contract does not include cable. Its sole use is as a monitor for my computer.
Likewise I do not pay the telly tax, I was on the internet before the BBC came blundering in clogging up cyberspace with their rubbish and filth. If they think that merely because I 'could' acces their muck that I 'should' pay their tithe they can jolly well think again ( golly, nearly swore there ).
You showed remarkable restraint there banned :) My first attempt at the internet was, like you, before the BBC even had a website. Remember - it took about 5 minutes for a page to come up and the only person I knew with an email address was family in Canada. Those were the days.
YOU ASK: "I wonder if this blatant manipulation of the national broadcaster we all own ever happens with BBC Scotland, or if it does will we ever know?"
subrosa - believe me - and i worked for STV for 15 years, know all their key folhs well - BBC Scotland is far far worse than the BBC generally in terms of its pro Labour bias. I could literally write a book about it. It is so blantant, its laughable. Guido, or any scottish blogger except Tom H or Maybe Keiza would get get near enoght to a TV studio to warrant a complaint.
It is one of the Union's remaining stengths - even out of government, north and south it will continue, is institutional, generational.
And who got broadcasting left out the devolved settlment? - the one significsant reommmedation of The Convention Labour ignored.
AWC thanks for that. I suspected as much when I posed the question but of course I'd no knowledge like you. Many will be interested in what you say I'm sure.
