Purnell's Aversion to Marigolds

James Purnell, the Work and Pensions Secretary, moved from one London flat in 2006 to another.  All paid for by the taxpayers of course. When he left the £1820 a month (yes a month) apartment the landlord claimed it looked like a pigsty.  I would agree with him if the picture below is anything to go by.

This was the kitchen sink on the day he moved out with his girlfriend.  So what you may ask, but if I tell you Purnell claimed £1050 for cleaning during his tenancy, which averages £100 a month plus a further £586 for repairs, then you will understand.  The Sunday Express also revealed how Mr Purnell charges the £400 a month for his household groceries, an expense which has cost the taxpayer £9,094 in the past five years.

I've moved home many times in my life and have never seen a sink left so filthy.  The army would have charged him for a new sink, the labour costs involved and refused him another home.  (For those who believe the military receive rent-free homes that is not the case, rents are charged and deducted from salaries).

But this is a member of the Westminster labour cabinet who should be setting an example to us hoi polloi. He is also the man in charge of pensions and tells me how well off I am with my state pension.

I doubt if he'll be looking so smug today now that the Express have exposed his filthy habits. The words "fur coat and nae knickers" spring to mind as he's known to be a natty dresser. It's long past time these expenses were stopped and MPs paid for their own cleaners or did it themselves like most of us. This is one who has an obviously aversion to Marigolds and I expect there are quite a few others - won't be long now until they're also exposed.

But he had a girlfriend, so did the chain at the sink break?

What are the chances that the next 4 weeks will be taken up, in the MSM, with the new Pandemic.

Not without the probablility that Gordon has send some of the boys from Porton Down to Mexico with a briefcase of vials cultured at Piggery in Westminster?

Safer to loose it in Mexico than the USA.

It all started in Mexico you know.

The feckin' dirty bastard!

All paid for on the tax payer's teat. Disgraceful.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I always thought Purnell was the, almost, acceptable face of New Labour.

Not now.

FC at times I despair with you :) Have men problems with cleaning up after themselves? I don't mean tidying up I mean cleaning.

I suppose that's why men marry, just so as they have someone to clean their filth.

I like to leaven your day

Aye FC I was thinking that along with some others today. Seems some folk off a plane in Glasgow didn't feel well so were taken to hospital earlier but they don't have this flu.

May I suggest a decent few bottles of whatever takes anyone's fancy is better than all the chemicals we can buy. Of course drink in moderation as Gordon Brown keeps telling us.

Gigits I can't believe you think he was one of the best! Jings, help ma boab!

Good of the angry landlord to make this public because he's obviously been done for quite a sum.

What standards do the cleaners have that we're paying for? If there are any cleaners of course. Hope you've seen the rest of the pictures on the Express' site.

To be fair subrosa, if that's a plastic sink, they are almost impossible to clean I'm told. Denture cleaning tablets are the only thing that can get the stains out.Apparently.
But then again they could have made the effort...

FC you'll have to put a link to a video. I don't think comments accept them.

Have you noticed? I'm sure your wife has :)

subrosa said...

Conan I can't believe you've typed that but of course you're a man.

I had a plastic sink for 16 years and it was never ALLOWED to get in that state. I would have been affronted. They are no more difficult to keep clean than a porcelain sink (which replaced my plastic one when I cheaply revamped my kitchen).

Don't you know what bleach does and a wee bit elbow grease now and again? Being a Scotsman I'm surprised if you don't :)

Faux Cu said...

what was the meaning of the Video Link?

I thought you were talking about using 240 volt jump leads on Gordon etc etc

subrosa said...

FC I thought with the big gap in your comment that you'd put a video.

My apologies.

Merely ignorance subrosa, never having had a plastic sink.I only asked she who must be obeyed how you got stains out of plastic sinks, not how they got there.

Honestly, I thought he was revolting since day one. He's a smarmy self satisfied arse.

Clearly he's also a filthy dirty little gadgy and so is his girlfriend.

Clearly there was no cleaner and he will have been trousering the money for the cleaning on expenses. Although I'm not sure why he needs a cleaner. Do cabinet ministers have some sort of allergy to Cillit Bang or Cif (see I even know the names)? I seem to manage to wash things over every so often. Do they have a disability in that direction and need someone else to do it for them?

I'm not the tidiest person in the world, but I couldn't bare to have a sink that was that dirty. I certainly wouldnt eat out of anything that had been washed in it. Geez; that's third world. I hope he gets some horrible food poisoning from it.

I wouldn't like to see the state of their bathroom.....UGHHHHHHHHH.

Conan I knew your comment was from ignorance not practice :) But of course your dear wife would never let a sink get in that state even although the taxpayer paid a cleaner.

It looks as if he sold the plug to Jaqui Smith. I'm not at all surprised, charged for cleaning and spent it on himself. They really are a terrible crowd. Mind you an awful lot seem to be jumping ship.

What a filthy dirty little boy he is.

Hello Thatsnews, indeed and you wouldn't think he could go out leaving a house like that do you. Just goes to show, some people have standards we wouldn't believe.

subrosa said...

Or they're only jumping because they're opportunists don't you think?

SR

We'd call him a "Crabby Bastard" the usual treatment is a good 30 mins in a shower with a long handed scrubbing brush and 4 ltrs of cleaning fluid - the dirty fecker!

Yes SR we do pay for our own housing and bills, my council tax is set at about £1560 whether I'm home or not!

We pay taxes as much as the next man or woman! Unless you're in the RFA where you get a taxfree salary providing you're out of the UK for 6 months a year.
