The UK Economy (or what's left of it)

These are the two men responsible for the economic mess in the UK, particularly the one on the left.  He's the man who was in charge of the Treasury for 10 years and continually told us how well off we were, and always would be, in his hands.

There's an excellent article in the Economist but one sentence caught my eye.

'Britain has suffered its first bank-run since Disraeli was prime minister in the 1870s.'

Hopefully that fact will be added to Brown's legacy.

Over the past 22 months the shock has spread from American housing, sector by sector, economy by economy. Some markets have seized up; others are being pounded by volatility. Everywhere good businesses are going bankrupt and jobs are being destroyed. For the first time since 1991 global average income per head is falling. Even as growth in emerging markets has come to a halt, the rich economies look set to shrink.

"has spread from American housing, sector by sector, economy by economy."

no mention of Gordon Brown?

You don't like the purple Spook? Tell me what colour would suit then. I've forgotten what the original was lol.

Brown was given a very solvent country back in 1997. If you read what's said in the Economist the writer tells you how Brown tried to balance left and right wing policies. All things to all men type of thing and fiddled the books to do so.
