Who Runs The World?
Initially I intended to include this link in this week's Take Your Pick but decided it deserves a post of its own.
In the first such analysis ever conducted, Swiss economic researchers have conducted a global network analysis of the most powerful transnational corporations (TNCs).
The results reveal a core of 787 firms with control of 80% of this network and a 'super entity' comprised of 147 corporations that have a controlling interest in 40% of the network's TNCs.
Included is a list of the top 50 control holders. It should be no surprise to many to learn Barclays PLC is number one. All the other usual suspects are included with a few unknown to me. The post author, Michael Ricciardi, answers questions in the comments which are well worth a read.
