My apologies for the lack of blogging. My few days 'rest' (the first in nearly 5 years of daily posting) have morphed into a few weeks so quickly - encouraged by the lovely weather we've all be having this summer.
Thanks to all who emailed to ask after my wellbeing. It's lovely to know so many of you were concerned.
Because I'm committed to card playing quite a bit these coming few months, I've decided I won't be posting every day in the immediate future but nearer the referendum date that may well change. Can't have the opposition getting away with endless nonsense can we?

The past few days I've had the company of German friends and they mentioned the cost of their electricity and Merkle's promise to chop the €20 billion her government pay 'green' investors every year. She'll probably get re-elected on 22 September on that promise alone.
In the past few weeks I've had a few trips around Scotland and one to deepest England. Once again I was horrified to see how many wind turbines blot our lovely landscape. Is nobody long-sighted enough to realise, when these monstrous structures come to the end of their productive lives?
Seems these turbines will be cluttering the countryside for a generation or more and when they're redundant I doubt if they'll be removed, don't you?

Had a bond just mature so put it into solar panels. The original subsidies were obscene but there comes a point when we all head to the trough.
To some extend it is just another toy. This morning I connected the inverter to the PC so in the last hour or so (mid-day) I have peaked at 2.2kW and troughed at 180W. Throw in the variability of wind and that is why we need coal and/or gas. There is no way ANYONE is going to be digging up wind turbine foundations in the future.
There is no rule that says you have to post every day. Sometimes I find I am grubbing round for something to say and wonder therefore if I should be saying it at all!
I intend taking quite a few holidays over the next couple of years - yes, even more than I take now! It seems daft posting ahead to fill the gap, so in the future I think I'll just post an 'out of office' message.
I've no intention of giving up as quite a few have in recent months, but this is supposed to be a hobby! Even Max Farquar seems to have died and he had a hell of a following. Still, the readers of deceased blogs have to go somewhere for their daily rant ;-) so maybe we'll just be helping to fill the gap.
Anyway, nice to know you're still with us...
