My parents were very keen on Sir Harry Lauder. Alas, as a teenager (you know what they are like) I preferred Jimmy Durante. But Sir Harry wss one of the good guys, I believe he lost his oonly son who was serving with the 8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Tennis is an extremely boring sport. Not as boring as swimming, though.

Harry Lauder is a very boring singer. Most of his stuff was Imperialist propaganda or sentimental "too wee, too poor, too stupid" ditties about how the "Scottish Race" (c. W. Churchill) should be grateful for what their masters had granted them.

His song "Don't Let Us Sing About War Anymore", available on YouTube (which I cannot paste a link to), is untypical. Harry lost his only son in the "Great" War.

I rather liked Chic Murray Demetrius but he seldom sang - publicly anyway.

Auch Barney, each to our own.

Yes, I read on Wiki he lost his son. Didn't realise that until now.
