Calling All Yompers
For a weekend this summer you can take part in a challenging event across the Cateran Trail which meanders through Highland Perthshire and Angus. Usually walkers take 4 or 5 days to walk the Trail. This isn't a walk it's a yomp.
You can walk 22, 36.5 or even the 52 mile yomp in just 24 hours and help raise money for ABF The Soldeirs' Charity, PSYBT and the Alliance Trust Staff Foundation - all very worthy charities which quietly make life better for many.
I met some of the organisers and participants from last year's event and every person was exuberant in their praise for the organisation, the scenery and the camaraderie.
Some I spoke to last year combined the event with a family holiday and others decided it was worth coming quite a distance just to take part. The dramatic and breathtaking scenery will sooth away the stresses of every day life and once the challenge is complete, everyone must feel a great sense of achievement.
Someone said to me last year they were concerned about walking through the night but realised darkness falls for just around 3 hours in summer and the route was easily identifiable. Food is included and other treats supplied (see video).
If you want to do something different this is it. All information is here.

Sounds a wonderful venture SR. Unfortunately I am one of those e
who believe the Good Lord provided us with two feet to enable us to walk from our front doors to the car - and to walk from our car to the front door.......
My praise however to all who take part.
Erm... no comment here WfW.:)
