For The Attention Of Readers In Scotland

When you're out and about today keep an eye open for the above vehicle.

It is Scotland's only specialist ambulance for sick children and the Subaru Forester 4x4 was stolen from outside a house in Thomson Avenue, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, overnight.

The vehicle is clearly marked as a paediatric ITU vehicle and contains intensive care equipment.  It was bought last year after major fundraising efforts.

It's reported the thief broke stole the vehicle's keys when they broke into a house.

I do hope the thief is not let down by our justice system. Denying seriously ill children the chance of life deserves a lengthy sentence - preferably one without such luxuries as television, phones and sports facilities.

Update 8.30pm :  The vehicle has been found completely burnt out in the Ferguslie Park area of Paisley.  A 35 year old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged theft by house breaking.

Rosa.

Hopefully the Johnstone Polis will have an idea of who stole the vehicle in question and be knocking on their doors in the immediate future.

Then again, knowing that there was a time when the police station in Johnstone was plastered by graffiti artists who got clean away with it - I won't be holding my breath on any of the Johnstone Polis catching the thieves any time soon.

It's horrible that a jerky thief would steal something like this. Then again, I read out here all the time about thieves stealing wheel chairs, sometimes with the people right IN THEM!

I hope the car gets found, and the expensive items are still there. If they catch who did this, they should be jailed for years!

People (world-wide) can be such jerks!

BD, I don't know Johnstone but thought if I posted this here and also on Twitter it may highlight it very slightly.

The excuse is that the individual was drunk or doped, possibly both. They need to be put in manacles. I know the effort folk will have put into raising funds for such a vehicle.

Bunni, where has it gone wrong? Fear doesn't seem to exist with some these days for wrong-doing to their fellow men.

They can Jeanne. I was told as a child that good overcomes evil but at times I wonder - even now.

Sometimes the good guys win. :)

Many thanks for that Jeanne. You're way ahead of me!

Shame the vehicle hasn't been found yet though. We have to keep vigilant but it's possibly behind closed doors somewhere.

Surely someone has sighted it. That's the best we can hope for.

Well, since the jerks who stole it also burnt it (sorry for not reading the breaking news more carefully), saying the good guys won was a bit overly optimistic. I suppose there is minor comfort that it is no doubt insured, but that still leaves children who need it now without.

I sincerely hope the creeps who did such a thing are caught and hung up by their thumbs.

No doubt Clegg will insist that the thief, like the London rioters, has been "let down" by the system!

Oh aye EP, the liberal lefties will blame it on the tories.
