I'm not too sure about Westminster e-petitions because I think they are purely a PR exercise and little else. Such a pity this petition was not proposed to the Scottish Parliament which does have each petition scrutinised by a Petition Committee and the findings made public.
However the proposer of this petition, the chef Antony Worrall Thompson, is an Englishman and lives in England so only the UK Parliament's petition system is available to him.
The petition asks for a review of the smoking ban:
We petition the Government to review the impact of the smoking ban on pubs and clubs and consider an amendment that would give licensees the option of separate well-ventilated smoking rooms.
Many businesses have suffered greatly with the verocity of the smoking ban's ridiculous rulings which deny quality businesses the opportunity to create well-ventilated smoking areas. Switzerland does this well in its airports and other countries take a more balanced view of smoking legislation. Our politicians say we're a tolerant society. Let them prove it.
