Good News For Blogger Users

Web technology is not my forte as many of you already know, but thanks to a friend who works with all aspects of computing, I can share the news that Google are developing five new styles/views for Blogger.

To try the styles on your own blog just add "/view" to the end of your blog URL or any Blogger URL and play with the menu on the top right hand side.

Some of the views are more suited to a photo blog but I like the Timeslide view which gives the ability to preview all posts on one page with quite a bit of information about the posts.

My favourite is Sidebar.  This simply gives a sidebar with the blog's page image, title and number of comments.  This bar can be scrolled to go through every last post on blog (jings!).  On the main frame of the page the post selected in the sidebar is shown in full.  It's simple and sleek and I think that will be my choice, but at present all widgets and 'personalisation' is lost with all these views.

There's still much work to be done to ensure each blog can keep its individuality but it's impressive so far don't you think?

John, you've dampened my enthusiasm. :)

I'm the wrong person to comment on this. I HATE Google. I am, at various times, unable to comment on blogs like this because they say various things like, "You're cookies must be enabled". In fact some days I post with no problems and on others the day can end with me about to launch the computer out of the window. It really shouldn't be this difficult.

I don't have too many problems with Google Sue, except when people have lots of additions on their blogs. Makes something run slow here.

What I do find irritating is some comment software which requires my details every time I want to leave a remark.

None of them has cracked it yet. There's a long way to go until they get a non-tech person like me to have confidence.
