Say No To 02

courtesy of Gotty

O2 are the only main sponsors still supporting the 10:10 campaign.  Sony and many others have bowed out since the making of 'No Pressure'.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with a friend who is a retired teacher.  She was a 'traditional' teacher. The type who was respected for her firm parameters and discipline.

The subject of the No Pressure video came into our conversation and she voiced her concern about the children involved in the making of the film. "Nobody seems to have understood the impact being in such a film could have on a child," she said.  She continued by explaining the excitement the film makers would have created for the children, (as seen in the trailer), but she was most adamant that the 'high' wouldn't last long and some children could feel very guilty at being part of a group who approved of blowing up their peers.

She certainly has a point.  Another point was the seeming lack of parental protest at the finished product.  There's nothing she could find online from any parent whose child took part in this production, yet she's sure that many must feel the same guilt as some children.  Her final comment was that the head of the school, which was used by the film makers, must take a considerable amount of responsibility for exposing his charges to these climate change fanatics and their ideas.

We really should be told what the arrangement was between the school and the film makers.  Did money change hands or was it all done gratis?  Were parents asked to sign a consent form?  Did the form explain the class scene in detail?  Were the children professionally debriefed?  So many questions which must be answered.

I think it was a fake school with actors SR. According to what I read anyway.
A bit like the global warming scam. All fake.

They're good questions indeed, Rosie. Not too worried about how they're feeling - contrary to helicopter opinion, kids are incredibly resilient - but the blithe acquiescence to a sinister idea hints at the extent to which eco-brain rinsing has taken effect.

Quangos (paid for by or Taxes) are still supporting them though. The likes of Carbon Trust & Energy Saving Trust.

[Note to Mr Pickles - either scrap them both, or, merge 2-into-1 & sack 1/2 the wastrels. They duplicate each-others output - but carefully aim in different directions (1 is Commercial, 1 is Domestic)]

DP - "kids are incredibly resilient"

Obviously more-so than Doggers-caught-in-the-Act whom ACPO think might then suffer Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder:

I see RM. Even though, some of these youngsters look under 16 to me and surely required parental consent? Auch, no, we don't do that these days do we.

Thanks for that link CH. I'm sure it doesn't surprise you either. The billions for the bonuses has to come from somewhere.

It does indeed Dick. Maybe I'm super-sensitive but I can even remember the teacher's comments the first day I wore glasses to school. If they're actors then that's fine - I couldn't care less then if they're resilient or not.

Now there's a nice wee rant for you to post about Joe. :)

Joe: Yeah, I've seen a lot of that around today. Methinks there is quite a lot of righteous anger being proffered about 'dogging' which is rather misplaced.

When did it become something exclusively daytime and practised only by gays who want to be discovered by kids?

The only references I ever see of it are amongst consenting hetero adults, very late at night.

A long time ago, as a teen, I used to 'park' somewhere quiet for fumbling with the latest squeeze (OK, just the one I could catch) who also lived with parents, and the problem was drunk dickheads intruding aggressively for a laugh.

Didn't they cut a forest down somewhere recently to stop people who didn't want to be seen having hidden consensual sex from ... having hidden consensual sex where they couldn't be seen?

Yes, that did happen. Too tired to look for it, though.

Seems a non-story to me. Sorry.

Rosie: But you survived it, yes? In fact, your placing on Wikio rankings and the fact that you have a blog at all would tend to suggest that your self-esteem wasn't damaged one little bit.

See? You're resilient, too. :)

You're right Dick, I read that this week too.

Isn't dogging when folk want an audience and purposely go to public places for sex? Thankfully it hasn't happened around here yet. I doubt if they'd get an audience anyway. It's kind of geriatric here and most folks wouldn't be interested. ;)

It was Dick, it was. Because of it I never wore my specs outside the classroom and have wandered around in a rose-tinted world for the past 55 years. :) It's taken that time to create a resilient coating.

Hey! I'm no expert, but I was always under the impression that the audience were there to be consensually entertained too. And late at night (ie early hours) so where kids come into it I have no idea.

As for the resilient coating? Ever thought that your discomfort may have contributed to it rather than detracted? You, like me, talk sometimes of molly-coddled kids and how their life is diminished as a result. So how can you claim that your own challenges were evil?

You quite obviously survived them and learned to be stronger than if you'd been insulated.

@RMcGeddon It was filmed at the Camden School For Girls in north London.

Likewise Rosie I described the film to a mature lady teacher, she was horrified as were a climate scientist and an academic lawyer that I spoke to, neither had heard of "1010 no pressure" but said that they would look it up on Youtube.

Incidentally, if it was intended to show it in cinemas it would require a BBFC certificate, what does exploding children rate these days?

subrosa said...

We were never insulated Dick, but we were educated in the 3 Rs. Their importance was the basis of our future and our teachers knew that in those days.

You're knowledge is more than mine. I thought these people chose public places where they knew folks passed by.

My challenges were never evil. That teacher's intention that day was to be kind and acknowledge I would at last be able to read the blackboard. It goes to show how even a kind deed can be humiliating - even for adults.

As I've aged I've become more resilient to fools. I'm sure you can say the same.

I hope they did banned.

Maybe Fanny whatsit got her daddy or someone to push her film onto cinema owners. Who knows? We won't now.

I see from EU Referendum that just before their big day (tomorrow, 10/10/10) their list of supporters has plummited from 90,000 to 70,000 in 24 hours; when I checked it a couple of minutes ago the latest sign up was from "Boycott 02".

Richard North reckons that the total viewings for all the No Pressure uploads and spoofs stands at 1.5million (dunno if that includes the several hundred thousands of views for vids subsequently deleted).

subrosa said...

Aye banned, I've been following the progress on Richard's blog. I think it includes as many as he could find.

One of the most disturbing aspects of this, IMHO, has been the lack of thought given to the effects on the children involved. I just can not understand the parents and teachers on this.

Down here in Plymouth a new school has just been opened, the pupils register every morning using their thumbprint. Their thumbprint is also used to purchase any snacks during the day.

I am pretty damn sure that my old teachers would have thrown themselves into a volcano rather than allow children to be fingerprinted or take part in this vile 10:10 piece of propaganda.

What on earth is happening to our society?

subrosa said...

That's my main concern too wg. Schools seem intent on pushing this agenda and have forgotten their raison d'etre was to teach the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics.

No wonder children are bored and standards are falling in these subjects.
