Today's Non-Story

This is 24-year-old Anthony Gawthrop (pictured). While raiding and relieving a house in Cambridge of a laptop he dropped his mobile phone.

Not realising his error, he later contacted police to report his phone missing - shortly before it was found at the crime scene. Police checked the photos it contained and recognised him from his three previous convictions for house-breaking.

He then attempted to give officers a false alibi but at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday he eventually admitted the offence and has now been told to expect a 'substantial' prison sentence.

Such a shame Mr Gawthrop didn't bother to read chapter one of the burglar's handbook - Don't Leave Evidence Behind.
