What's David Cameron playing at? I've just heard on radio that he's changed his mind and decided he'll meet the four US senators who, in a vitriolic rage, publicly accused Scotland and the Westminster government of a conspiracy between BP and themselves regarding the release of Megrahi.
Now it appears Cameron has found time to talk to the senators. What an embarrassment for Britain. Would Obama agree to formally meet any of our Lords or MPs about a situation which concerned them if he was on a brief visit to London?
How disappointing to find out so soon into his premiership that David Cameron is no different to recent Prime Ministers and is prepared to be bullied by the US instead of defending Britain first and foremost. There are processes through which the senators' questions can be answered but reorganising his schedule in order to formally talk with them isn't one of them. The Americans will be delighted to find they have another compliant poodle.

That wierd noise ye can hear when Cameron speaks is him rippin up the 'Respect agenda'
Didnae last long did it?
… and now he has ordered a review of all documentation, just to keep the Americans happy.
What a servile, sycophantic leader Cameron has turned out to be.
The British Establishment are all over the place on this issue (or is it two issues conflated in one)?
Cameron probably thought he was going to get one over on the previous New Labour Government given the way he seems to have happily played along on the BP-Megrahi allegations.
He is completely out of his depth in foreign policy.
British independent foreign policy like the British independent nuclear deterent, is a figment of Whitehall's imagination.
Is it actually true that empty barrels make most noise? I wonder if al-Megrahi had died within a few weeks of his legal licensed 'compassionate' release - would the shysters have been as able to loudly exercise their spite and self-interest?
I hope it is to the credit of Mr MacAskill and Mr Salmond that their quiet discretion remains intact.
Subrosa
For some reason which eludes me 'ALL' the British prime ministers regardless of Political party.
Bow and scrape to the American president following out their bidding to the letter.
and it doesn't much matter whatever the public say they must give them some sort of sycophancy injection when they enter downing street.
Cluck, cluck, cluck what else could be expected from the young Old Etonian......the jocks did it and I didnae like it, honest Guv.
Oven ready chicken
David Cameron today vowed to publish fresh papers on the release of the Lockerbie bomber
as Barack Obama called for "all the facts to be laid out there".
On Afghanistan, Cameron stressed the aim was 'not to pull out in 2014' but to start the process of handing responsibility for security to regional Afghan police and army.
what a Prime minister perhaps we should just deal with obama direct and give Cameron a miss..

- Exactly Mr. Mxyzptlk.
What is the point of paying taxes for the upkeep of the Westmidden/Whitehall trough when all the decisions are made in Washington DC?
As our Yankee Revolutionary Cousins said when they too were struggling against the London-Oxbridge Mafia pre-1766, "No taxation without representation!."
Let's withhold our Scottish taxes until we become the next state of the USA.
If Captain Ranty is correct (see the video subrosa has posted in the article above this one) we won't even need to change monarchs.
all the best
Nope Sophia, but at least we know where we stand. instead of falling for lies again.
John, according to Alex Salmond on Newsnicht, the Scottish government have published everything they can. The US and UK governments refused permission for their communications to be publicised.
Well said Joe. A figment of Whitehall's imagination right enough. I'm off to read the transcript of the ex-head of our security services interview with the Iraq inquiry today. Seems it will be interesting reading.
Our handling so far has been superior to that of the hysterical US senators and the spineless UK PM Clarinda don't you think?
Aye Niko, that's a good one. Remember Cameron saying 'my first call was from Obama'? Brown and Blair were the same. Puppets.
That is an interesting video though isn't it Joe?
I like my chicken to have a bit of spine Dram.
What's Cameron playing at?
Why he's playing at being the British Prime Minister.
Aren't you getting more and more infuriated today RA by the way Cameron is bad-mouthing Scotland?
I was going to post on this but I'm still to angry to even try to be objective.
SR - try moral cowardice! His first big step and he falls over like a wimp - Junior Partner (please tell our troops what to do and when Mr Pres). The release: A BIG Jock did it and ran away. The senators: I'll get to the bottom of it best chums (it was the daft jocks what did it and I didnae like it and I told them, so there).
Grrrrrrr.....
What a vote catcher to have stood up and said we'll be out of the war by next year, hands off BP as it had nothing to do with the release. And while on that subject as Prime minister of the UK I stand by the decision of the justice minister of Scotland to make the decision he has. I may disagree with the decsion but the law of Scotland applies. As for Junior partner, no thanks, friends yes but we have other friends in the world that we have yet to make and a lot to maintain, good afternoon.
Dram, I've just written another post for morning. Really it's become much worse today (or yesterday) hasn't it?
Cameron lack so much moral fibre I'm astonished why I was taken in by him for a while, yet perhaps it's because he was more appealing than Brown, who couldn't tell a truth if it depended on his political life.
Rosie, I'm raging at Cameron. Who do these Senators think they are. Tell them to feck off! I can't get away from it over at mine.
I'm furious too DL. It's not that I mind him disagreeing with the decision to release Megrahi, it's the way in which he's voiced his opinion.
Hopefully an inquiry will come out of this and the Scottish government will look head and shoulders above Westminster and the US. Of course, any communications which put either of them in a bad light, will be refused publication on the grounds of security.
