Scotland Next?

Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia did not break international law, the United Nations' highest court ruled this week.

The non-binding opinion sets the stage for Kosovo to make a renewed application for further international recognition as a nation. International Court of Justice president, Hisashi Owada, said international law contained no "prohibition on declarations of independence".

Kosovo seceded from Serbia in 2008, after nearly a decade of international administration since the 1998-99 war. Its statehood has been recognised by 60 countries, including the US and most EU nations. Serbia and Russia lead a handful of others in staunchly condemning it.

It's now up to Scotland to make a stance. Will the people be brave enough? I can but dream.

I think we lack the skills of Kosovo in local knowledge of small arms training ( 5.62mm and 7.62mm heavy machine gun training) to be able to take on the government.

Scotland should aspire to be like Kosovo?! No thanks. I wouldn't even send Nicola Sturgeon to Kosovo.

RM, we have a considerable presence in the British military and I have no doubt whatsoever that, if the Scots decided they wanted knowledge of small arms training, it could be done - speedily and efficiently.

Your total hatred of the SNP is shining through this morning William.

Would you be surprised to know that cross-party there is a tremendous respect for Nicola Sturgeon. In fact tories and libdems publicly state that our NHS would be in far worse shape if she wasn't in charge and labour were. Because, of course, labour wanted Scotland's NHS to go down the English route of privatisation. Where's that got them? Nowhere.
