BBC HD - A Shambles

Someone here wanted to watch the final of the world cup tonight but wasn't aware of the kick off time.

Let me explain the situation. There are two TVs in this house connected to Sky and one is HD - in the room where the golf and Everton fanatic usually views programmes. But I have my 'own' Sky TV in another wee room and just around 7.30pm they joined me there watching the match on BBC1.

They then decided it would be good to see it on the HD TV and immediately went to the room with the HD TV only for it to be announced that the match didn't start for another half hour so they would play U2 until then.

Do the BBC right hand know what's happening from the left? Another question I was asked: Why do the BBC have so few HD programmes in comparison to the likes of Sky? It's not as if the BBC aren't behind the door in advertising their HD abilities and the income they receive from the licence fee, which is another tax in anything but name.

After about ten minutes HD updated to show the match. How can they get it so wrong or is the HD hype a scam for people to buy into HD? Answers in the comments, but I'm sure they'll be very brief.

And they are professional Broadcasters ( allegedly) and are paid accordingly and cannot even get the schedule right?. if England had made it there would be lynchings!

I was watching on BBC HD and thought it brilliant. I saw the first few minutes in another room on non-HD. Did they delay the pre-match coverage or the game itself?

Many will have bought HD boxes just for the football Dram although the HD has been here on one TV for a couple of years.

That's true Apogee.

Aye, that's exactly what happened. In the room with HD they said they'd play something from U2 until kick-off and when he tuned into BBC1 a few minutes later on the non-HD set the game had started.

Seems the HD production team don't liaise with the standard team IPP.

The BBC TV channel structure as well as the programming is a total mess. It seems to be the result of hone headed internal squabbles rather than any sensible approach. As for HD, years in and they are still doing previews and cannot make up their mind as to what sort of essential programming it is best for.

BBC's HD is a disgrace and as you say Demetrius, they're still running previews.

I can't decide if it's a con or just complete mismanagement.
