'Afghan war is lost and US government has to face it'

Meanwhile, Barack Obama goes on a US chat show to talk about the economy and the war in an attempt to improve his poor ratings. At least that may take the media's attention away from the postponement of the Senate hearing concerning al Megrahi's release and BP- postponed due to lack of witnesses.

Now these four vocal senators can slip back into oblivion as they've had their 15 minutes of fame.

Agreed. Kicking out the Taliban was great fun, but after that we should have left.

The best thing we can do for them is buying legally used opium off them and not the Tasmanians etc, and the next best thing we could do is making heroin legally available in the West (suitably regulated and taxed, of course).

We haven't really kicked out the Taliban though Mark. They've just moved to another area. According to some reports the country is still run by 90% of them.
