I've been gardening and during a break I decided to rake through some old cassette tapes. This is one piece which has special memories for me. Mahler always gives food for thought.
As someone married to a Mahler Groupie we know the feeling. Have you got the Philips Haitinck DVD's? Keep playing the music, it is about the only thing that makes sense these days.
Ah Demetrius, that's why you're such a well balanced person. :)
Yes I do have them. Just wonderful they are.
I'm in the process of putting cassettes onto CDs and that's why this was posted yesterday because I'd forgotten I had this one.
You're right, without music I doubt if I'd be reasonably sane. Mind you here I have to compete with a Metalica fan but we have an arrangement that it can be blasted when I'm not around. Mind you, bits of Metalica are rather good.

Very nice! I've been using it to check my wifi and speakers.
Romantic, nostalgic, and mysterious. A lovely piece with awesome dynamics. Thanks.
It's certainly a good piece for that kind of task Frank. Hope they worked.
Glad you enjoyed it scunnert. Many say Mahler is too depressing but I've always felt it makes me feel alive.
Funny I took you to be a Led Zeppelin fan Subrosa.
Here is something else for you to listen to from a cd that orchestrates another excellent composer.

SR,
Mahler? Urgh! Sorry.
My taste spreads quite widely Billy. I like Led Zeppelin so thanks for the link. Lovely.
Oh WFW, not even when you feel like yelling? It's mood music for solace.
Sorry I couldn't entertain you. :(
Oh you sure entertain me SR, but not with Mahler. If you want music for solace then try the 2nd movement Chopin's 1st Piano Concerto.
I was being funny re Led Zepplin Subrosa as you will have found out by now the link is not them, a wee bit different from them.

On the subject of good music you might care to look at the latest on www.stinkingplanet.blogspot.com although it is a little rude.
Demetrius, I do prefer the squaddie version but perhaps that shows my background too much. :) Many thanks for the link though.
