The Sunday Post, Scotland's best selling Sunday newspaper, has had an email 'jury' running for a few weeks. The jury have been giving their voting preferences and the following graphic shows this week's result in which you will note the newspaper's readers have delivered a resounding vote of no confidence in Gordon Brown's labour government. (I'm still trying to discover the numbers involved in this project).

There is probably not that much enthusiasm for the other parties either.
It's a shame that for many people the democratic choice has come down to voting for the party they least dislike in order to remove an incompetent and divisive government.
I for one would prefer to be able to vote positively for a party instead of looking for the least worst option. That's why I'm unlikely to vote this time.
If you had told me twenty years ago that the Sunday Post would be the only paper that published polls that showed the SNP ahead...
If only it was possible for the SNP to gain 24% of the votes in the UK! What a victory that would be!
AM that's very true and it shows the low standard of British and Scottish politics these days.
Not only is the standard low, so few politicians seem worthy of the job.
I was watching the Nick Clegg bit on Channel 4 news earlier and again he's a career politician never having held a 'proper' job. What a waste of an obviously talented linguist.
Even ten years ago Conan, but I have to admit I've been keeping a wee eye on this poll and at least DC Thomson are doing their best to be inclusive of all.
It would be indeed Hythlodaeus. Wouldn't that mean the whole of Scotland would have to vote SNP though? ;)

That's good for what is still a staunchly Tory newspaper, which will explain the unusually high blue vote.
The readership of the Sunday Post is largely middle aged to elderly too, ie, the group that vote more, so that may closer to the truth that one might imagine.
Of course as it's done by email, it has a limited veracity, given that not everyone has access to or knows how to use internet.
Interesting though. I've noticed too that DCT are not as harsh on the SNP as they once were. A few years ago they made it very difficult for any of their staff to stand for councils if they stood for separatism.
It’s maybe that they hate Labour so much.... and they do, that they support the SNP in Edinburgh because they make Labour look so pathetic. It must warm old Alistair’s heart to see Gray being bashed about every week.

It is an interesting poll Tris, because quite a few of my generation don't use a computer so I think many who voted will be of a younger generation.
Mind you Tris, this area, with the exception of Dundee, was mainly blue for many years so right enough the tory vote isn't surprising.
I thought it was another 'take' on the subject. Lighthearted of course.
DC Thomson, I thought you were going to say DC Comics for a moment having already over looked the Hootsmon as Scotland's number one best selling Sunday newspaper.
The Hootsmon even has a Free Colour Supplement now!
DC Thomson is the only family owned newspaper business in the UK I think these days TS. It's based in Dundee, as as you rightly say Oor Willie, the Broons and their comics created great excitement to many children for generations.
I don't think the Hootsmon is the best selling daily here now, quite the contrary I think.

I I'm a bit slow in the head but I'm now wondering, not being from these parts, is Conan's Hootsmon a parody thingy for a real paper nick-named the Hootsmon then or what, I'm confused. I thought the only Hootsmon was the Librarian's. I'll get my coat.
TS, Conan's work is a satirical take on the Scotsman which used to be Scotland's best selling paper and now it sells less than any other. It used to be more tory than the Glasgow Herald but now it's very labour and the reporting on the SNP government is, at times, pure labour propaganda (allegedly!)
