The Best Poster Yet

Can you imagine - Labour have complained about the above SNP spoof poster!

They have reported the SNP to the Electoral Commission after the Nationalists published the poster which mimics Labour's manifesto front over and which includes the official Labour logo. Labour's complaint is that the Nationalists have broken the rules which forbid the use of other parties' logos on campaign material.

Aren't our campaigning rules rather weird? Parties can tell blatant lies in official campaign material (as labour has done regarding, yet for a logo to be used in an obvious spoof is not acceptable.

It's too late. The poster is out there and the message has been delivered to all who care about the future.

Good for them, time Labour got a taste of their own medicine. I thought they were going to ignore the SNP? Maybe their internal polling has them rattled? Labour support slipping away in places such as Dundee...........

Interesting, I wonder just how the Nats will get rid of nuclear weapons if they can't achieve independence. Not likely they'll form a majority party in Westminster any time soon is it?

Voterinscotland, the article says labour lawyers were all over it like a nettle rash - or similar. I was delighted. The SNP need more of this.

Get their message out regardless. That's what labour do with their lies. They know by the time they're smacked on the wrist it doesn't matter. People will have read/seen it.

You mean Scotland QM, it's not just independence supporters who want rid of Trident.

Sadly, many who supported the halting of such weapons now are very pro. Isn't it amazing? They then learn how much money is involved in the business.

Labour bleat on about jobs. Trident isn't a job creation scheme and it's operated by our highly skilled Navy.

Saw this on the Cal Merc site - excellent poster!

I won't pretend it's half as good as the "Future Feared by All" masterpiece, but another effort which might appeal to a younger, Playstation-savvy crowd is here: Grand Theft Gordo. Spread the word far and wide, the media won't give us much help after all!

It's an inspired work of art!

To be honest, the party logos are unnecessary and I can see why the rules exist. But I bet the decision was taken to use them in the full knowledge it would be controversial.

Pure genius.....

It's an absolutely cracking poster, but what puzzles me is why they used the Lib Dem logo. The Lib Dems have long opposed Trident and so on.

Crinkly & Ragged Arsed Philosophers said...

It certainly rams home the main point; which is always conveniently brushed aside by supporters of idiocy.

I've always pictured mutant humans against an apocalyptic background watching with dying eyes the arcs of missiles in flight; with the caption - "There go the Tridents. We'll see how they like it."

I suppose in the immortal words of ex President G W Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does."

As it's a small logo, it could be changed on the poster; and, the word beside it should be 'Liebour'.

End of complaint.

Super post forfar-loon. Well done you.

Yes we need to spread these around because we won't get any help.

subrosa said...

Jess that's exactly what I thought too. It brought the poster to the attention of the Cale Mercury. Without the controversy I doubt if it would have made it.

subrosa said...

I did wonder that Mark, but I think it's because the libdems are unionists. I could well be wrong of course. :)

Auch RA, you're upsetting me. Forest Gump is one of my favourite films.

Actually labour's manifesto cover was just asking for this treatment don't you think?

subrosa said...

I'm sure someone from the SNP has noted your complaint Joe. ;)

To be honest, I'd feel far less safe without the nukes. M.A.D. seems to work.

What would be the point of an independent Scotland - a prosperous and glorious nation - if some tin-pot dictator could hold us to ransom because of their stockpile?

Plus, with the NWO moving fast, we need to be able to defend ourselves.

subrosa said...

I've thought long and hard about this over the years Stewart.

These nukes are not ours. We're storing them for another country, albeit a 'friendly' country. We can't use them because we don't own them. The owners are completely in charge of them.

Why does having another country's weapons, over which we have no control, make you feel safer? Do you feel less safe in Germany than France? Or less safe in Spain?

With the disintegration of freedom in the USA and their march towards globalism, we need a Scotsman's finger on the button, agreed.

I've been to Germany, France and Spain (just call me Phileas Fogg!) and felt safe, but that was a while ago and these are different times. We were once all in it together against the East, but the geopolitical situation has changed rapidly.

Of course, if we remain in a EU-philic UK or "an independent Scotland within Europe" we will have no freedom to defend anyway.

Who was it said, "Give me freedom or give me death"?

subrosa said...

France has nuclear Stewart as you know and they could press their own button. They don't need someone else to do it.

That's very true about the EU, but I think, after this Greece business, that the EU will be shaken up in some way, because Germany just isn't playing ball. Well it is playing, but it has been sensible enough to have many processes before then enact anything.

Not like this country where Brussels lobs the law to Westminster and next day it's enacted, without debate or any form of due process.

Mark: The reason that the Liberals are on the poster is that, although they want rid of Trident, and have made much of this (as it's popular with many voters), they actually do want to have a far cheaper and probably smaller nuclear deterrent. So a Liberal Britain would still be a nuclear Britain. I don’t know if it would be enough to keep the British PM sitting at the right hand of God, erm I mean the American president or not.

Great poster. They have a cracker of a poster maker at SNP hq.

As you say SR, it seems ots's Ok to lie through your teeth, scaremonger and cause all sorts of worries, particularly to old people (Gordon Brown), but use their sacred wee logo and they have a canary. How typically British.

subrosa said...

I've not had anything from labour or the libdems yet, have you Tris?

Stewart Cowan said...

I think we need out the EU completely, SR.

And there are other big dangers, e.g the UN changes rules on what is a pandemic and our gov't buys vaccines which haven't been properly tested.

Globalisation equals slavery. SR, would you object to an independent Scotland with our own independent nuclear deterrent?

Of course 'they' would probably not allow it.

subrosa said...

That's my opinion too Stewart, although we must have a referendum.

No I wouldn't object to our own nuclear deterrent and it was something completely controlled by us.

Just heard on the news that in Germany some are calling for Greece to withdraw from the EU altogether. Was looking for further info.

Amazingly I got a bunch through the door with the post. SNP (I was sick of looking at it mind, I’ve labelled what seems like millions of them), Labour and Liberal. I got the Tory one separately. It seems that they’re not using tax-payers money but are delivering them personally... and well done to them, given that it’s a pretty lost cause seat for them.

I really will ahve to get round to reading them... er some day.

subrosa said...

My SNP one was by hand Tris and the tory one came via the postie so the tories must have an agreement with them.

I didn't read the tory one as I'm disgusted by his behaviour at using people's names, without their permission, as signatories.

Stewart Cowan said...

A fully independent and suitably armed Scotland (wha daur meddle wi' me!). I could go for that.

But not with Al the Oily Fish as president.

subrosa said...

I don't think Alex Salmond will stay long enough Stewart. Who would you prefer? St Wendy or St Colourless?

Myself, quite frankly.

The former Labour MP Dennis Canavan yesterday urged voters to back the SNP's candidate in falkirk, where Labour's Eric Joyce is seeking re-election.

It's in today's sabatical Hootsmon.

Morning wisnaeme. I didn't see that in the Hootsmon but then I read it just after midnight and either it hadn't been published, or it was tucked away in a wee corner so as nobody would notice.

Thanks for that. :)
