Another 'I Spy' Government Programme

Not for one minute am I suggesting any of my readers browse terrorist-related websites, but in case you do come across one the government is launching a new programme for you do to your civic duty and report them.

The government is seeking to enforce the Terrorism Acts of 2000 and 2006, which make it illegal to have or share information that's intended to be useful to terrorists and bans glorifying terrorism or urging people to commit terrorism.

You can report terrorist-related websites on Direct.co.uk by filling out a web-based form.

The reports are anonymous and are then reviewed by police officers who are part of the new Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit, run by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).

I'm just grateful my blog isn't primarily about chemistry, medicine or food.

Don't forget you can also report litter droppers, smokers who naughtily have a puff in a working environment (other than Westminster where they happily smoke on the terrace) and anyone creating a noise which you find unacceptable.

Try to remember to lock your home and car though because local police don't appear to be as quick off the mark as the CTIRU.

" The reports are anonymous "

Hahahahahahhahaah

So all the logging of IPs and recording of mails does not apply to this one single solitary site on the whole wide interweb.

Of course.

Robert Gellately in his book Backing Hitler records the misuse of the Nazi regime's informant system, which inundated the Gestapo, making their work unfeasible.

Indeed, some informants were actually prosecuted for their time-wasting activities, using up precious Third Reich resources better spent elsewhere.

I would hate to see this British government initiative go the same way, inundated by ne'er-do-wells.

There is an important lesson to be drawn here - one which the British government is unaware of for some bizarre reason, but that's what we pay them for.

Oh TT, I scream - usually a few times a day. These people are withdrawing our freedom and liberty. Why do we allow it? Why will we vote for more of the same?

Of course part of the problem is if we don't vote then the way the system goes, they'll get back in anyway.

The whole system is against public opinion which makes us a failed democracy. Most of us just haven't seen that yet, we're too involved with the constant incompetent actions of those who ignore us.

Ah Sandy, we think alike. It's one of these 'as if' messages isn't it.

I had a look at the site. It doesn't let you look around, you've to enter information immediately. Says it all.

Hello Joe. I think the government know what's going on. Don't forget Gordon Brown honed his politics and lived in an area which still has a reasonable communist factor.

They think we pay them for representing us. Many don't. All they do is pass letters to government departments then send you a copy of the reply. They're glorified go-betweens for government departments.

Can I report the Secretary of Scotland website as being a malicous self proclomation and being an anti protestant/aethiest one liable to stir up hatred in the wider community.

Don't throw away your passport quite yet OR! I think we've had the best of the past 100 years and yes, worse is to come.
