Afghanistan

Another British soldier was killed in Afghanistan yesterday.

He was from 1st Battalion Scots Guards part of the 1 Grenadier Guards Battle Group and died as a result of small arms fire in the Nad-e-Ali area of central Helmand province.

Another death in this useless war.  The toll is now 263 of our troops killed.

My sympathy to his friends and family.  There but for the grace of God go many.

Why has the story in the press disappeared about the strain on Selly Oak hospital struggling to manage the acute and on-going care of so many wounded soldiers? Apparently it was reported that civilian patients were to be 'boarded out' or admitted to nearby hospitals to ensure the increasing military casualties could be cared for in Selly Oak.

We are never told openly in the media how many are wounded and the TV coverage of 'repatriated' soldiers appears to receive increasingly shorter and lower priority reference. The people of Wootten Bassett still turn out in their respectful numbers.

I've no idea Clarinda. Just looked and it was 10 February that I wrote about it but nothing more has been said.

The MoD say they can't issue figures although I have seen some around. Will have a look for them but I don't think they are MoD figures.

You're right though, slowly deaths and this dreadful war are slipping down the MSM agenda. Wonder if that's 'instructed'?

Try this guys and listen carefully to the words as (for me) it captures it nicely - "fuel the fires of the wars we wage"

In case you don't get the link, it's from the track "what passes for love" from the album "Spinning Coin"

Dram, it seems nigh on impossible to get that to play unless you download it. I've tried every way I can think of. :(
