Afghanistan
The Ministry of Defence has announced the death of a British soldier in Afghanistan yesterday.
He served with 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (2 LANCS) and was shot dead in a firefight in the Musa Qal'ah district of Helmand province.
The MoD state this death is not connected to Operation MOSHTRACK.
Britain has now lost 260 soldiers in Afghanistan since operations began in 2001.
