Tax on Tax!

UK's Roads 2010? Where has all the money gone?

Now hear this, this post is from OLDRIGHTIE, not the fragrant Subrosa, so be warned! A couple of weeks ago I took my car into the garage for it's latest service. I was given the dreaded phone call that the rear springs were shot and required over three hundred quids worth of pension to repair. Why, I enquired should a relatively new vehicle need this work? It's common these days after two years (5 years in my case, lucky!) or so, with the terrible state of our roads, I was advised. I then realised that most weeks I get to clobber at least one gigantic pot hole. Add to this the savage winter we are experiencing and the green taxes we are paying to cope with global warming scams and the high costs associated with servicing MPs' lifestyles it quickly becomes obvious that our roads are a very low priority for our movers and shakers. (pun intended).

Now just consider this. VAT on the repairs, fuel duty and VAT on that tax itself. Income tax, insurance tax, council tax. Soon to come, a massive UK debt tax. On and on goes the list. We really are mugs as a Nation. The French have terrific roads!!

I've got that pothole's wee brother in my street, but it is getting bigger all the time!
At least the French had the good sense to have a revolution and get rid of some of the parasites, ours is overdue!

My apologies to you, Subrosa. The above two comments occured because I did not know how to use 'Open ID'. I think that I now understand.

That's ok junican, I'll delete them if that's ok as they're not relevant to the post.

Open ID defeats me too, just can't get it to operate most of the time.

Replying to Edgar, TOLLS has the letter "R" missing.
