New Scottish Newspaper - Online

Scotland's first internet newspaper, the Caledonian Mercury, was launched today. I will take the details of its creation from Joan McAlpine's blog (who better than one of Scotland's top journalists to give the facts?):

Conceived and edited by Stewart Kirkpatrick, who ran The Scotsman online when it was good, it bills itself as Scotland's first internet newspaper. In many ways it has a very traditional "newspaper look" which I guess is deliberate...

Go on, have a read - you know you want to.

With "tags" linking to articles on the Mitford girls , Nessie, Morag and other sundry monsters this doesn't look like a serious heavyweight.

I've even managed to post a comment on it, of course it was rabidly anti-SNP!

If Hamish MacDonnell is involved I don't want to know.
Having got the heave from The Hootsman he now makes a living writing anti-SNP articles for the Daily Mail, and cosying up to Brian Taylor on TV after FMQs.

Excuse me muddy paw, the Mitford girls are serious stuff. It must be that you think only males make serious news.

Aye FL, I noticed the Jim Murphy article. Never mind, at least they accept comments. They won't get much of a readership if they show bias.

Is that the shortish bloke with the black-rimmed glasses Andrew? Haven't seen him with Brian for a few months but didn't realise he writes for the DM.

Hi SR
Had a good read of it. Seems pretty even handed with plenty of varied stories. Did not induce the usual screams of rage about biased reporting caused by the hootsmon or herald. So see how it goes, seems ok so far!

Aye it does seem to be attempting to cover all political views Apogee. It's brave having a comment section and do hope that doesn't start to be abused.
