As This Winter Continues To Break records For The Bitter Cold................

We can still wonder at the resilience of human beings to cope. Surely this same spirit can cope with vineyards and balmy summers too? I have read and heard of many wonderful acts of help and kindness over this incredible cold winter. Especially in the Arctic conditions of Scotland!

Silly question from the softy south..doesn't it always snow in Scotland every winter?

The Wintersmith will be visiting us all next week, by the way.

No it doesn't snow here every winter rightw. I've been home over 20 years now and I think this is the 4th winter I've had to dig myself out. We usually get a few inches of snow which melt away but this year the constant freezing temperatures mean it never gets a chance to thaw.

I used to go to Scotland every year precisely because it always did snow every year (Fort William, just before Easter).

Why is it that when you visit the Met Office site to see what things will be like for the next few hours that very information is not available; only what they predict for some hours in advance?

Seen and heard of many random acts of kindness even in this relativley benign part of the country.

There's usually plenty snow each year in the Cairngorms not far from here banned. Strangely it doesn't often affect us on the lower ground but this freeze is something else.

I never trust the BBC. Tend to get my forecasts from Europe lol.
