The Latest DCSF Propaganda

The use of children to push the government's propaganda is a disgrace. This is the latest from Ed Balls and his department and is to be used as a TV advertisement.

Sb I saw this last night for the first time and nearly spat out my Peroni. This commercial is a chilling reminder of the increasing totalitarianism we're being forced to endure. And reminds me of this . . .

""We are not content with negative obedience, nor even with the most abject submission. When finally you surrender to us, it must be of your own free will"

Smacked of something out of 1984 to me! Frightening.

Dare I suggest that it is a good idea to promote parental accountability - but do it robustly and with a clear focus on the correct target.

From the sound, appearance and home environment of these little actors, they appear to originate from a less likely section of our very worst excesses of alcohol abuse. The 'advert' is therefore not targeting an appropriate cross-section audience and misses the real culprit parents and families? But of course showing the real potential victims would offend PC sensibilties? It's not even propaganda - it's useless.

Ta for the link, Rosie. It's just more money spent by Labour on over-zealous authoritarianism before they are kicked out of office.

It was £540m last year. In fact, the government became the UK's largest advertiser in 2009.

Do you think this is another case of putting ideas into children's minds 'for later' as it were?

Like their sex 'education'.

Just want to say I agree with everything Clarinda said.

I found it quite sinister TT. Scary stuff indeed.

Yes Clarinda it is a good idea but I don't consider this video goes anywhere near that objective.

Useless right enough, but for certain sections of society and the children, it could be sending a message quite the opposite of the aims.

Totally pathetic. Who do the originators of this rubbish think it will impress?
So what message is it supposed to impart,to kids? that life is about to get interesting? to parents, most of the ones that should watch will be out enjoying themselves or watching Corrie or East Enders, two typical TV role models!
Geez.

Yes Dick, I saw your graph about their advertising spend. In fact I've logged it for Monday.

Stewart, it certainly has such overtones doesn't it? We have children telling adults not to smoke, now we have this. It's actually a form of abuse of children really.

"The sooner we start talking to our kids about drink...
the sooner they'll start drinking"

Is this really the best that debauched Brown and his crazy gang can come up with?

subrosa said...

This makes my blood boil banned, videos like this. Using children just because they themselves are so inadequate.

SR,

Blatant Psyops- target audience - uk plc sub section - those who drink too much already and infront of their kids .
Behavioural change required - discuss alcohol with kids and perhaps feel so guilty to reduce consumption!

Freakish - mind control bolloks, who do they think they are? I predict a riot

CD freakish right enough. Watching this just made me feel uncomfortable. I'm sure it was the use of children, the message was secondary.
